Live baiting for estuary Jewfish / Mulloway using circle hooks - Featuring Aussfish

We are joined by YT channel Aussfish’s Dave Rudder to hunt down my first Jewfish on a live bait.
I’ve only ever caught them on lures so it was a weird change of pace for me, but one I definitely enjoyed and learned a lot from.

Congratulations nice Jew👌 Dave is definitely a character and makes for a worthwhile collaboration. On a different note it's worth using a different bridal method as a zip tie is polluting.

Hey mate this was my first time using baits ! Only really chased them with lures but when they're in the mood there's not much they won't have a crack at ! Dave likes big Live yellowtail or mullet to be kicking around pumping vibrations through the water that will attract the predators in.

Hey mate, when you see your rod bending and like something grabbed your live bait and is running with it, do you strike and set the hook or you let them swallow it and run with it?

Circle hooks will pin the fish in the corner of the mouth so grabbing the rod and gently pulling up is enough. ‘Setting the hook’ with circles will just risk pulling them straight out 👍

My experience with live baiting for Jew start and ends here with circles 😅 I’m 99% of the time chasing them on lures.
