Hey all! I got the IXON airbag vest U05 (the latest one) and I am very satisfied with it. It’s electronically released with a release module from in&motion and I trust it with my life!
@RevZilla7 ай бұрын
Yeah, the In&Motion is in the Klim option that we carry and it’s been a pretty popular unit for those that like the subscription / coverage system it offers.

Really helpful and informative guys, thank you! I don’t know what the options for airbags are here in the UK but will certainly check now I’m so much better informed. BTW, the Klim subscription service makes sense to me, as we can spend months off the road given the weather. A lot of main land Europe will also be similarly affected.
@goughhomer39187 ай бұрын
I also ride half the year due to inclement weather. Also, setting up auto payment on the subscription will help alleviate active status anxiety.

The Klim A-1 and Rally vests didn’t make your cut, but it makes mine. The In&Motion unit is class leading and proven, I like the subscription option, and most of all, the stretchy, breathable mesh is not stifling and hot like the Astars airbags.

Much better cervical protection as well.

I'm drawn to the Helite H-Moov (algo) but will never buy it for as long as Helite continues to have such huge and hideous branding. I will not spending $1200-1400 (CAD) on something g that turns me into a walking/riding billboard for a company. It's the single reason I don't own any riding gear by Alpinestars, Dianese or most of the "sporty" Euro brands. My gear, currently, is all Rev'it and Knox because of the nearly non-existent/minimal branding. Companies should pay me to advertise for them rather than expecting me to pay to advertise on their behalf. And I take that is a consideration with every product/item I buy.

Have you looked at the Rev'It! Avertum Tech-Air?

About how long to remove the system for cleaning. Can the protector be laundered on gentle cycle with the system removed? Tech Air Off road system...
@nypete4807 ай бұрын
I have the tech air 5 and the manual says it should only be cleaned with a damp rag.
@RevZilla7 ай бұрын
We haven’t had to wash ours yet, but the instructions included with it explain how to remove the airbag system and wash it. We still recommend hand washing though given the hard armor components in the Off-Road, but Astars gives specific instructions for each unit in the box.

Not necessarily, the subscription model has been very popular for customers over the past few years it’s been out. Their rally airbag didn’t make the cut for FIM certification this past year, but we don’t mind the street unit. Just wouldn’t be one we put in our top list this year.

I have the Helite Turtle 2 and it's the safest, most reliable system in my opinion. I'm waiting to see what the Turtle 3 will offer, if it ever becomes a thing. Hoping for it to be a bit more compact with same, or better, safety. Can be a bit hot. Looks a bit utilitarian too.

I’m very happy w mine too.
@trichtertus62217 ай бұрын
It just isn’t the safest, even if you think that. But it’s nice, if it fits your circumstances best. Its still way better than non airbag.

@trichtertus6221 Rather than making a claim with no basis, maybe try making a claim WITH basis. Back up the stuff you say, and you'll be taken seriously.

@@MotoDash1100 no problem. I now try to back my statement with some reason. As mentioned, the time of inflation of the Helite Turtle 2 is 100ms, while alpinestars tech air 5‘s is 20-40ms. I‘ll try to explain why this, seemingly negligible difference is actually a huge safety concern. In case of a 100kph (~60mph) front collision with a standing object (like a car pulling out on an intersection), the math works out like the following: My assumption is, that the distance between your seating position and the car is about 1m (~3 feet). Your body would keep its velocity of 100kph (~60mph) which is around 27m/s (~80feet/s). The time you travel until you impact is therefore about 36ms. While the turtle is probably not more than 50% filled, the tech air has already more than 80% of its capacity in it. And this is the best case scenario (in this type of crash) for the tethered turtle, because the 100ms count doesn’t start with the impact (as it does with the tech air), but with the release of the tether. This string has intentionally some slack to allow movement on the bike. Estimating, you have to travel an additional 33cm (~1 foot) for the tether to activate the airbag, you are now losing an additional 10ms or 30% of the the inflation time. Additionally you have to mention, that some crashes wouldn’t even activate a tethered system like low sides. And thats what I was referring to, when I said, that reliability is dependent on the definition. You can’t trust the airbag to go off at every crash you are into. Its situational, if it will deploy or not. If you define reliability as you don’t have to think about battery charge, I would agree, that is a huge downside of electronic ones. I‘ve heard, you can bump up the inflation time of the helite system, by changing the cartridges to argon instead of co2. Afaik, that is what alpinestars is using and the gas just expands quicker than co2 does. I still stand with my statement, that if you can’t or don’t want to buy an electronic one, a tethered one is way way better than no airbag.
