My mother had a very strange belief that children choose their parents and the time and circumstances of their birth. I was born 21 months before my parents were allowed to marry. Therefore I was the child of the devil As the child of the devil, I was responsible for every bad thing that befell my mother or my family. I was beaten every single time something bad happened. Sometimes, I was beaten as insurance in advance. I watch these cases in horror, knowing how it felt to be a hated child. I wish that every lawyer had to spend a term volunteering in a hospital trauma ward, bringing food and drink to the waiting families. Somehow they should be exposed to what victims go through. I wish that every parent who hurt their child would have to serve their sentence caring for the victims of child abuse (under supervision).

Are you serious? As someone in recovery your sitting here advocating universal removal of all children from all people who struggle with addiction? Where is the line? Maine has a law that allows for hospital to report to cps for even prescribed meds if they "change the treatment of the baby" something hospitals will decide to do before the baby is even born and assessment is done if the mom admits to prescribed or illegal narcotic class meds. Should those babies be removed too? Meth is a different beast from things like opioid, weed, even amphetamines/Cocain. I have spent years working in community outreach, working with many non-profit organizations and working as a C.P.S.S (certified peer support specialist) doing all sorts from homeless assistance, addiction treatment, to crisis calls responding with police officers to people in crisis. The idea that all parents with any type or level of additions are a life threatening danger to their children is harmful and it's harmful to people like you.

This should message all women during child bearing years. Especially those with " got to get a man " disease. And those who get pregnant in order to recieve government benefits. Children are not monkeys in the jungle. They deserve to be cared for, educated, guided, raised to be constructive citizens. Not just stocked up for the monthly check. Finally the laws are standing up for your children, if not after the fact, and your monthly benefits can get you incarcerated for not giving them the care they deserve.

I was abandoned at three years of age, was a foster mother for thirteen years. i saw so many times where the childs needs are totally ignored. I feel for that mother but she had choices that sweet baby girl had none. Rest inpeace you sweet little Angel. I cannot believe the choice of words by the courts got her free. I agree that we should have better resources available within communities for parents to access in time of need. My issue with this specific case is that, we can have all the resources available but there will be some people who will not choose to use them. Such as this young lady. She had options. She could have left the baby with a family member, (I don’t know whether she has any family) fire station, police station, doctors office, school, or reached out to someone. She didn’t just snap in that one moment. This must have built up over a period of time, which is time she could have reached out. I’m trying to find more about this case, as I don’t have any details or facts right now.

Yes babies are overwhelming sometimes. I very much miss my little babies but don't miss those sleepless up and down nights. Add drugs and it's a recipe for disaster

What does that have to do with anything? A child lost their life and you’re worried about someone not having edges. Grow up

Girl stop looking around. Focus on who’s speaking to you or who you’re speaking to. Eye contact is key. 🔑

Just seen she was found not guilty 😮??

This is a case of the state filing the wrong charges. They charged her with NEGLECT leading to death. For that, she’s not guilty. She’s guilty of murder… the state screwed up.
