The only time I ever used live bait for bass fishing was one time in the middle of the summer at night with big black goldfish. We caught a bunch of big fish that night. That would be cool to see you do that

I remember seeing a guy using live mice on the river for brown trout would have a little piece of wood they would float on with the current then pull them off the wood and that mouse would be swimming in the current and BAM big trout.. Would love to see a Bass fishing video with a live Mouse..

With live bait, I always have the best luck on shiners or giant bluegill. So I say go with them, or have a competition where one uses shiners and one uses bluegills.

Live crayfish is all I use to catch smallmouth bass in the creek by my house. I usually rip off the claws and I hook them through the tail, works great

Great video. I'd like to see bass fishing using live bluegill as bait. ( You guys don't have wild golden shiners where you live, do you? ) Also: I've never used live crawfish for bass either. Seems like the crawfish would stay lively longer if kept in water. ??? I figured they would dry out & die too soon by not being kept in water. I reckon that's just not the case.

Well of course I know they live in Alabama. South Alabama to be exact. Just curious, why would you tell me that anyway? I've been subbed to BamaBass for a long time. Plus, my entire family has been living in NORTH Alabama for generations. In addition to visiting many times, I too, lived there for nearly 5 years, but moved back to central Florida in 1984. While up there, I don't ever recall seeing or hearing about any wild golden shiners.......and I lived right on lake Guntersville. That's why I asked if they have golden shiners in S. Alabama.

Howabouthetruth I know I've seen wild shiners in Locust Fork. I'd guess if Florida has wild golden shiners then so does south bama. Also with crawfish you don't want to put them in water because they can drown if they can't climb out of the water (sounds dumb but it's true lol). But it does help to put some wet leaves in the bucket with them.

That crawfish species is the same we have here in Portugal in most lakes: Procambarus clarkii or "red swamp crawfish". That's why I try to use red/brown/black jigs and other crawfish imitating baits.

How would you get live bait for bass? I know you can cast net for shad and such but do bait shops usually sell live bait for bass? I live in Tampa Florida so imagine how hard it'd be to get anything but shrimp or mullet at a bait shop
