Great guy worked with Steve back in 1967. Statler Hilton hotel in NYC. He was Ast. Credit mgr. But after work went to Improv comedy club and the rest is history. Very funny guy......

I loved the show where the lie detector confirmed that Dietrick was a space alien! Of course, he kept the whole squad guessing, but he was the funniest character on the show---IMHO. Stay safe.

I loved Landesberg's wry humor. There was nothing else like it back then or now.

Could some give me a link to an early skit that Steve did? He did a routine in which he played a young Al Jolson remonstrating with his father. "But Daddy, I don't wanna' do that. I want to be an entertainer. Aw, but Daddy..."

Before Steve was a star on Barney Miller he was a stand up comic. Died too young. Duluthians gotta listen to this one till the end.

Fact is, there is a healthy handful of Jewish country artists. Ramblin´ Jack Eliot, Joe Buchanon, Kinky Freidman, Barbi Benton, (Barbara Lyn Klein), etc.

He was brilliant on Barney Miller when someone else was writing his lines. Every other time I have seen him he always looked like he was about to say something really funny but never did.

He was 1977 liberal. Today’s baby city liberal would hang him, with the Asian accent. Would love the southern accent.

I Am totally taken for breath that just how bad and unfunny his stand up is. On Barney miller he is hilarious and plays it so cool and intelligent. This however is grey dull and clichéd. I'm betting his real stand up is Adult laced humour it has to be or otherwise I'm hugely disappointed I expected more from this guy.

David, he was awesome in Barney Miller, my fav character. Very classic deadpan straight-faced humor. This was not a good representation of his dry wit though.

1:19 It wasn’t funny then and it’s not funny now. And he was never funny at all.
