I enjoy your vids. Very well done. I need to get a gopro. Much easier than holding a handicam. Very cool spill in the beginning. Love digging the 2 centers. Also is that lock a civil war lock? Looks it to me...

It's from 1879, so a bit after civil war. I did some research on it at my blog (detecting.us) if you want to read up. The GoPro works well, after you get used to it. If I were in the market again I might look at some of the new competitors that have come out. Don't forget to pull your headphones out so the viewers can her the audio from the detector.

Good video, Scott. I do have one question, though: you detect a copper coin and say it sounds like an Indian. Indian heads and Lincolns have the exact same composition from 1865 to 1958, same weight and composition. So, how do you determine if it's an Indian or a wheatie prior to digging?

I've always found that Indians read a bit lower than wheats. This could be related to their depth. Fatty Indians definitely sound different. But as the video shows, I'm not guessing perfectly.
