Hi! The silver coin with the eagle is probably from the russian empire and is either 10, 15, or 20 kopecks, depending on the size of the coin. These are billon coins, which is why they sometimes don’t appear in the best condition.

It’s always a joy to watch your channel, and listen to your lovely accent. You could read the telephone directory (if they still exist) and I’d enjoy it. That apart, I’ve learned so much history from you, especially the succession of our Royal Family. My mum spent years trying to drum it into me with little success, but now, when you find a coin, I try to get the dates first, then check up with you. Thank you John!

John, epic hammered silver!!! I think the figurine may be later, possibly 1920s era, because of the puffy cheeks, juvenile facial features, & proportions. It seems more of a Kewpie Doll style. The lump on the front of the body is in the wrong position to be a bagpipe. The bag is usually held under the left arm.

Thanks for letting us live vicariously through you and the mini history lessons you give us with each dig. I've always wanted to try my hand at detecting, but I live in an area settled barely 150 years. I am more likely find stones tools used by native americans than a 100 year old coin.

The coin you cannot identify, I believe it is a Napoleon III 10 or 20 centimes coin. You can see part of the eagles wing on the back, and the base of the neck on the front, with a few letters showing. Also appears to be the designers name at the base of the neck.
