These unique live edge serving boards are fun to make and always turn heads. Figured cherry with some maple bowties is one of my favorite combinations.

Craft shows are definitely something I would like to get into and your perspective on before and after would be very appreciated. Thanks so much. And the boards are gorgeous of course!

Hi Bruce, enjoyed this video. Would you mind sharing your feeds, speeds and depth of cut info for flattening the boards on the onefinity CNC? I have been briefly experimenting on this with burn marks. I'm thinking I need to increase the feed rate as I've slowed the router speed as much as I think i can and not burn out the motor. Thanks.
@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich Жыл бұрын
I don't know that info, because I typically do the flattening manually. I have a handheld joystick with the OneFinity and I just jog it back and forth manually. That being said, I would say you're right. If it is burning, you might need to run it a little faster.

@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! They didn't sell at all at the show! ha ha. I'm so disappointed. They got lots of looks and feels, people picked them up, but never pulled the trigger. Not sure why. I had them priced kind of high, because of how much work went into them, so maybe that was it.
@fosteredwoodworks
@fosteredwoodworks Жыл бұрын
@@BruceAUlrich oh dang! I was thinking of doing several of those since folks around here are always selling cutting boards.
@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich Жыл бұрын
@@fosteredwoodworks Well, there's nothing to say they won't sell for you. I got a ton of looks at them, but at this show, nobody bought really high end stuff from me. If you could be faster making them, you could probably feel comfortable selling them at a cheaper price point. That might work.
@johnfithian-franks8276
@johnfithian-franks8276 Жыл бұрын
I am curious as the price you asked for these cutting boards to cover your various costs IE the wood, sanding and time bowties, travel to the fair, and time at the fair.
@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich Жыл бұрын
Hey John, great questions. I was asking $150 for these (maybe less for the smaller one), which I thought was a reasonable price for what they are. Nobody purchased one. They got a lot of looks, but that was at the higher price point of stuff I had there, so maybe that was why. I had about $13 in the wood for each of these, so add in some time for sanding and adding the bow ties, there was a lot of margin there.
