Dear Paul, Unfortunately, with the new day and time, it is no longer possible for me to attend the sessions in person. So I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the great work you have done this year in showing us how to properly use all the many features of CaptureOne! If I could ask for one thing for Christmas, it would be a video on the best order in which to use all the different tools in an image editing session. I don't know if this would be appropriate for a live editing session or a master class. Either way, I would definitely be willing to pay for it. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, I'm already looking forward to the new input in 2025!

Hi Andreas - a little confused as we've been on Tuesdays at 3 for pretty much most of this year? That said, glad you've found them helpful, and they'll always be available to watch on catch-up after the live session, so you won't miss anything, don't worry! 👍 For an "order" - the reason you won't (and shouldn't) find anyone who knows Capture One well offering that is because it all depends on the image, and what you need to do. There isn't an "order", as such, and when people work to a prescribed checklist, they tend to screw things up (doing things that aren't necessary in that particular situation, and/or doing things in the "right order" but with the wrong tools for the image.)

Hi Paul, No it's me being confused. I thought the last sessions had been one our later and/or on another day of the week? But I could very much be wrong 😅 So you say there is no general order in which you use at least some of the tools? I'm not speaking of the detailed stuff like masking, but of the more general tools like keystone, cropping, exposure, hdr, levels and curves. It would be interesting to see how you organise your workspace and in which order you have placed the different tools. I know you have a lot of saved workspaces, so I wonder if they are for different types of images or for other purposes. I think I remember seeing a session you did with David Grover a while ago in which you said that some tools work globally and should therefore be used first. It might as well have been a session about black and white conversion, if that will make a difference?

To add to my remarks regarding sending in monochrome files: I’ve been shooting Leica M Monochrom camera’s for little more than three years now, and never had a file that I thought was of any interest as an example for a live session. Not to needlessly downplay my photography, but with Monochrom files life just becomes less complicated. You can forget about all color related tools, no white balance, no saturation sliders to worry about, linear response as default, etc. So basic workflow is pretty straightforward and most decisions I make about edits are more artistically related than technical. So, when it comes to sending in a file it won’t be a matter of technical problems I ran into but more of matter of: what would you make of this, artistically speaking? I just upgraded to the M11 Monochrom so maybe I will be sending in one of those 60+ Megapixel files to play with. Now find one that would make a good candidate… Thanks again Paul Paula Dieterman
