I used to sell amigas back in the day. I used to get demo disks and put them on in the shop, whoop people up and sell computers. If I had had something like this demo to show them back then, I would have sold TONS more A500s. I really enjoyed this. What brilliant music too.

The A500 is an absolute little beastie of a machine. So much power in there that we're still seeing tapped into even today. Agnus, Paula, the whole crew were giving it there all here. It's outstandimg

This runs on a 7MHz processor. Remember that.
@ChannelReuploads9451 Жыл бұрын
For the best part, the CPU is mostly left out of the equasion, When you have dedicated chips each to control Sound (Paula), Graphics (Denise), and Blitter (Agnus). it was primarily Agnus that controlled all the custom chips, and allowed the CPU to go and do its thing on its own, and the CPU only bothered the Agnus in order to ask for Access to the Data Bus to read or store data. Agnus also handled some of the graphics, because Denise did a lot of the screen mode control. So a 7 Mhz CPU is not just that because it has all of the help from the custom chips doing their own thing, under the watchful eye of Agnus.

These architecture computers for demoscene with integer mathematics instead of floating-point arithmetic can, ironically in what is basically a troll-move by coders, have usage of the floating point registers to store integers and so demoscene "integer by FPU" categories on older hardware could be carved out of the silicon, hewn into the competitions classifications. It then means there can be versions of integer demos that won't run unless you have an FPU _(or somehow cleverly emulate on, although that could defy the point, no pun intended)._ However that then means that and FPU version of a demo could then be made. Of course, immediately that means other maths-co-processor instructions can be advantaged such as polynomials with splines. Deliberately esoteric comedy of this nature is part of the demoscene culture over the years, including in the music of some demoscene. The snobbery of in-jokes comes down to how you spin it when making your character creation screen dice-rolls for your demoscene coder, be snobbery a reprehensible flaw or laudable quality depending apon who hears the quip pin-drop in the otherwise empty forest. Dependency trees are by their nature a form of elitism and snobbery, but then they show it is possible, and after all, surely that is part of the reason for demoscene, to show what is possible, as Machiavellian as it may feel to those who remember the experience. Like Miami was for electronic mail on the Amiga, to say IMAP Rinse is to distinguish communication from the unwashed masses. From Florida to Horrider, and back again. My comment has no hate in it and I do no harm. I am not appalled or afraid, boasting or envying or complaining... Just saying. Psalms23: Giving thanks and praise to the Lord and peace and love. Also, I'd say Matthew6.

Hm, it doesn't impress me as much as C64 demos. The Amiga is simply too capable. The C64 with its lots of flaws in the hardware can do much better if you set the hardware specs in comparison.

I also thought TBL were good at first, but sadly the wow effects in this demo are all fake. That's too bad, since some effort has been put into the music and scripting. For example, I like the idea of "digitizing" as if they were part of the 80s and Tron etc. But then it's all ruined when they show vectors. It's all animation like a PD disk or the game Another World. So obviously I don't like it, because I'm all about demos, and especially Amiga demos. I think also the Demoscene should be about Amiga demos and ward against fakers, to make the Demoscene different from PD and games (which can do whatever they want, because they are not in official competition).

its like a magic trick, people dont know it and it looks like magic but you're just giving away the secret. the whole point of magic tricks is to figure out how they did it
@ScoopexUs6 ай бұрын
@@memes_gbc674 there's no magic here, the disappointing fact is TBL let their name be associated with vector animations that were old, fake, and basic in 1990. Nothing has happened in all these years, and they have certainly not made a 3D effect. All I can say is that if you learn about demos, you can spot the cheap and cheesy stuff, and appreciate instead those who write demo effects and bring Amiga demos forward.
