There's also a wonderful question about which drivers would/should be the subject of the ultimate, AI-derived qualifying lap! Nice. This stream was created on my smartphone (following a last-minute glitch with the OBS editing suite) so it looks a bit different but hopefully it still does the job. I dont know if I'd describe Kmag's season as good. Got shown up a bit by Hulk, especially when he was struggling with the car earlier in the season when the rear end of the Haas was more unstable.

And totally agree about the tech side of things not having enough transparency or recognition. When basically everyone talks about F1 it’s the drivers that are front and center & then maybe the team principal or Adrian newey. But there is so much more going on that is so interesting & the teams are exactly that: *teams*. There are all these other parts involved. Even with a wizard like Newey only so much is done by him alone. It’s a huge effort and undertaking and the details of that are fascinating (the brawn go doc did a better than usual job of bringing this up). When talking about things like FP sessions people often don’t understand what is being done during them, why they are important etc (I seriously wish more info was available about what teams are doing during FP, but I digress)

Re between the data/bits: The way I interpret this is that while you have all this telemetry data (& sure can increase sample speed and/or sensor sensitivity) what the data shows is a quantitative status of the car & the inputs the driver is making. What it can’t show is exactly (to a degree - sure ride heights, degree of steering/pedal input, tire surface temps are shown) what the driver is reacting to and *feeing*. Plus yea, the acceleration ‘curve’ of inputs to a degree

Another thing came to mind & granted this is from the 90s, but from the defense/aerospace industry: I saw something about guys that were part of cooperative missions between the US & Russia regarding fighter jets (specifically MiG & I believe the f16 people, so general dynamics at the time. But might have been the f15). One of the things that was mentioned was that the Russians were impressed that the US people had telemetry data/sensors that could sense & display the instantaneous rate of acceleration (so the derivative) for telemetry data (yaw/roll/pitch etc). This was something that the Russians had been trying to develop, but weren’t able to do. Again, this is from a few decades ago, but it was in the defense industry with way bigger budgets & the most cutting edge tech. Dunno maybe that is something that is currently missing from current telemetry sensors/data (& yea, I would assume that one could just take the derivative of the telemetry curves and get this, but I assume that maybe data needed to be captured which a high enough degree of fidelity or something).

`Most probably use OBS.... It's probably a macbook compatability issue. I have a macbook which is great for some things, but terrible for other stuff.

6:00 Just because you have a 'top of the line MacBook Pro', doesn't mean that it can't break. Not saying that that's the problem here but you should take that into account. Also if you have a recent Mac then they use Apple Silicon (instead of Intel) which make them even less compatible than Mac's already used to be. Even though OBS has a Apple Silicon version, it doesn't have the same polish as their Windows version.

Different drivers, different styles. Maybe the drivers know best how to get the performance out of the individual cars they are driving. Bit like golf swings - look at Lee Trevino, even Jack Nicklaus with his 'flying elbow', or Eamonn Darcy whose swing was described by someone as 'like watching an octopus fall out of a window'. But, they all worked for those individuals, and that's the point to me - the result is what matters, not 'this is right, that is wrong'.

The move to drop Otmar probably was made at a very high level and was an executive reaction to a something a bean counter identified as a “bad investment”. So the decision was “we need to make a change ASAP”. When and if that change fails, they will probably drop out of F1 entirely. Or threaten to do it and see if Liberty gives them a bone to just keep them as a 10th team. Just my .02. In my mind, Renault/Alpine has been pretty fickle with being a serious F1 team for a long time. They would love wins and podiums, but are too cheap to actually pay the price. That all said, they have a strong base to build on and two very good drivers.

There’s a lime-green Lotus 18 that races - very sharp. Definitely not a fan of that Aston green; should be a suitably attractive standout shade that isn’t available for their motor cars until the following year. Fixed!

Sounds like maybe you're running low on drive space, OBS trying to buffer something too large? The newer M series Macs get weird when your drive gets close to half full. Or if you're trying to write to a slow external drive. Otherwise, because it's getting worse instead of being static, you've got a hardware failure.

Hi again Peter, just rewatching from the beginning and disturbed to hear you talking abt getting into TikTok. Not that it probably has dire consequences for you and yr field, but TikTok is essentially, and has been demonstrated to be, an intelligence and data gathering tool at the service of the Chinese govt's AI data bank acquisition and refinement operation. If you download the app they're in. All, or at least most, govt employees in remotely security sensitive depts in Britain's civil service are no longer allowed Huawei phones or tiktok apps to be active at work. Just saying...

nobody is going to catch red bull. they are too far ahead. nobody could catch mercedes despite multiple rule changes, until 2021 but mercedes still won the constructors and they fixed the last race for red bull. mclaren is not a big team. zak stated they would never win another championship unless there was a cap. no matter how many rules changes there still has not been a real pass since drs. they changed the cars and still have kept drs because they still cannot pass.
