Yeah I think there was a miscommunication between them. I think Dan is definitely referring to the Fremen from Dune, but Brandon thought he was talking about a real society and th ey got distracted before actually naming Dune.

Dragon raised kid goes to normal school: His mom could have been a princess who had just revealed to a prince that they had become pregnant and pressures him for marriage. So, when the dragon captured the princess, the prince just thought "Well, that solves THAT problem" and never rescued her. So the kid has THAT to deal with as well.

Loving the podcast so far! The fact that you mentioned the 'Call of Cthulhu but without the fear' idea is really interesting to me, because that's exactly what inspired one of my stories -- the challenge of writing a protagonist who's too stubborn to be properly affected by the cosmic horror of the setting. I can confirm it was really fun to work on.

17:55 But it actually is a thing! The interface in Jurassic Park was IRIX, which was like an overly sophisticated super expensive OS by Silicon Graphics that was used for 3D rendering in the early 90s. Their file browser literally looked like that, a 3D graphical navigator lmao. And it was based on UNIX like she says in the movie. AND the computers with IRIX were the same ones used to create the graphics in the movie.

Can we start a petition to make a series with this same animation style Arcane uses for the Mistborn and The other Cosmere stories by Brandon Sanderson? Animating guarantees that the price for the project be exponentially smaller than Live action. VFX, CGI, and the Cast salaries increase over time, while animation reuses models and designs, reducing the designing work and focusing on animation. Making/Creating worlds, effects of nature, magic systems would be better depicted and believable than anything VFX n CGI.
