Live from the store, Redecorating begins! Part 1

In light of having some extra time on my hands I am redecorating the shop! Just thought I’d go live and say hello while I work :)

I really enjoyed this walkthrough. It was nice to see Alex rediscovering some of his finds. These videos are helping me keep sane during my social distancing which is closer to a form of social isolation as I'm high risk. Love Alex's music as well. Hey Alex! I didn't know Zoltar was so cool! Well worth the price. I hope to ask him my fortune when I visit you there. Waiting for my US Passport which I submitted early March. (Does my timing suck or what?) Planning a Portland Oregon->EDM trip come summer; something to look forward to! In the meantime don't wreck your back, get help - that new counter is well long enough to socially distance from a helper!

Great tour, Alex. I know what you mean about rearranging things when you're not busy. Yesterday I rearranged my living room. LOL Not nearly the job you have at the store, but I did have to move a big bookcase by myself and I'm close to your Mom's age. Now I just have to do the rest of the house - I'm sure I'll have time. Plus I need to get rid of a whole bunch of stuff that will have to be taken out at a later date. We are in the isolation mode here in the North Bay of California too. Good to have something to do like this. May all of you take care and be well.

Enjoyed the tour & would love to come help with your display issues! Spent many years displaying for stores...so much fun, so much work...always a labor of love! Sometimes you do have to stand back & say, “how can I make it better?” Working in small spaces is a challenge but you’ll get there! The creative process is half the fun, right? Are you going to UV tint the window in the art room? Sunlight can ruin paintings by fading the colours or weakening the canvas it's on.

We've gone from social distancing to outright sheltering. No unnecessary travel except for essentials. So. Yeah im finding projects downstairs in my studio/ gallery areas . Took down a wall, am painting gallery walls a super soft grey. I look forward to your videos...will help to keep me sane..sort of. I have a Morris chair too! Its upstairs in my dinning room....a little area to have coffee/tea and read. Stay safe stay healthy everyone.❤

We are well in West Texas, glad you and the family are well too. Many years ago my husband was in retail and they were always changing and improving the store, just like you are doing today and this week. Hope you will make more store videos. Remember in the movie, ' BIG ', Zoltar played a central role. It was Zoltar who perhaps made Tom grow to adult size suddenly, and then return to boy size. Maybe he could send Tom Hanks a message where he is being quarantined with his wife, Rita. Zoltar knows.

When the store reopens, how about doing tours once or twice a day or week? It could be a good draw to the store if people get to see and handle and learn about cool things not normally seen in their world. You could keep it to 45 minutes so it doesn't get boring, and maybe vary the things shown from one tour to another. And once your new building is up they could end in the soda shop to buy drinks and candies.

Alex, Check out the Evergreen Aviation and Specie Museum in Mc Minnville,Oregon. Fantastic place worth visiting,once the virus is gone. We visited it last summer. They even have 'The Spruce Goose", Hughes giant wooden plane, the largest ever to fly. I mention it because you have Mercury related history. Cheers, Rik

What a wonderful shop and well mannered and respectful young man. Very nice. He still has a lot of youth left in him, bet the kids just love him. Where is the rings, brooches, bracelets, necklaces, ect. hint look for sterling and Monnet. Napier. James Avery, there are just so many name brand, you can get great prices and they sell like hot cakes on Ebay or Etsy ! anywhere from $15- to some as much as $400. AND UP! Waiting. Women love jewlery. Me too.

I like how you referred to the square puzzle with tiles. I’ve heard them called 15 puzzles since that the normal amount of tiles in the square. That is the way I have described my life for the last six years or so. Finally someone who understands.

Likely a vacuum leak on the guitar player. One easy way to spot it is to get one of those beekeeper smoke machines and puff around the open machine until you find a spot where the smoke is sucked up the leak. Alternatively, if that's hard to find, if you have old ping pong balls, the cellulose kind, you can crack one apart and use the shards to make a small smoke pot with a large spoon by wrapping the spoon and shards of ping pong ball in it before setting the shards on fire, works just as well with the smoke going out of a small spout (think antique clay oil lamp shape). Just don't breathe in too much.

Back in the early 60 s when I lived in Maggie Valley N.C. I went into the Maggie Valley Country Store and I saw a pair of tall moccasins with leather fringe and also e place to put a full tang knife in. They were made just over the mountain from where I lived and that was. Cherokee N, C. They were 18 dollars and my parents said they were too expensive
