Hey this is werewolf from the old forum. I am glad to see your still making incredible funny videos! I see you have your humor still. :D! I may try satire myself again. I hope your doing well with that recent hurricane since it hit part of Florida. : )

The forum is, indeed, dead but glad to see you around and thanks for the kind words about my video. Since we live in central Florida hurricanes aren't normally any kind of a problem (there's a reason Walt built WDW here). But thanks for your concern. Keep in touch and let me know what you are doing as well.

@@NanotechBeasts You're in central Florida? Where, exactly? I'm in Leesburg (around 40 miles north of Orlando). Maybe we could meet up sometime if you wanted (would be kind of cool to meet in person a fellow animator. I've corresponded with SO many over the years but only got to have one in person meet up).

Very good and funny. 😊 I can see that you're using a suit there, the actions look real. I've tried a bit of headshot but i often choose celebrities who have male ageing, thinning typical everday hair styles and there is little on the market place for that. Its been very frustrating. Have you found that too?
@MikeDKelley4 ай бұрын
It was my first attempt using my Rokoko suit but I didn't have time to even smooth things out or edit (my sources told me he was resigning Sunday and it was late Saturday night around 1am so I hastily put the suit on, got my capture going, and ad-libbed. This was actually the third attempt, I was so much better on the first two but because I wasn't used to the suit it didn't work for me for those. So I am legitimately tired at this take but it makes me mad because I forget the line about Putin being the vice-president). Thinning hair used to be tough to find but if you can get a pack called "Hair Studio - Hairstyles _Vol 01" it is nothing BUT thinning hair pieces, which I used here. I don't even think they did a Hairstyles Vol 2 but if you can't this first pack let me know and I'll see if I can find a link for you - it was purchased at the RL store for sure and the styles are just named "Style_01", "Style_02", etc. and are just patches of baldness and thin hair - I used two of them here and dyed them grey. Also you can always write me direct at mike at kelleytown dot come because sometimes I don't see all the comments.
@ewanstevenson47214 ай бұрын
@@MikeDKelley i think I have that pack is it by the TokoMotion dude? 🤔 If it is then I've tried it with varying success. Building up the patches is more challenging than I thought. He needs to do more patches that you could build up like cotton wool balls etc. I've done bald people with great success but for many headahots, stick some RL hair on them and they're often difficult to recognise even after lots of headshot morphing unless they have very distinct features. Yes it's tempting to get that suit even at $4k. This is becoming a big hobby so maybe you'll persuade me. Must be a luxury to have it. Thanks for your advice.

@@ewanstevenson4721 Something else you can try is to edit the mesh of any hair - we don't often think about it, but inside of both CC and iClone are some pretty impressive mesh manipulation tools, and I've gotten away in times past by editing these. Also - check out my tutorial on Blender hair. It's a LONG time ago, and I kind of stopped with it (because so many hairs were coming out I didn't need it anymore) but for men's hair in particular it's pretty easy AND easy to get those thinning patches (the hard thing is to do women's hair because there's just so much of it). The suit IS expensive but in the meantime you can try the freeware Rokoko Vision (the gateway drug to their suit. LOL). The single camera/webcam version is pretty perfect for projects like this, where you aren't concerned much with feet and fingers - and is quick and easy. I think I also made a video on it (but I'm old - not quite as old as Brandon but getting there - and tend to forget what I've done on my channel). If you can't find it (or even the Blender hair one) give me a shout.

Also - if you have the time this Thursday at around 2pm EST there will be a Rokoko seminar with using it and iClone. They are also giving away a free suit (among other things) so it's worth the hour or so (they never run over) for that alone. I think you can register on the Rokoko site for it and even if you can't make the seminar you can get the freebies (I think). I'll be there.

This is good. wanted to know what you think about the Rokoko suit. Are you using the coil? how does the suit compare to PN3?
@MikeDKelley3 ай бұрын
Yes, I have the coil. I may have written elsewhere, and I may even do a live stream showing the main differences between the two, but in terms of capture both the PN3 and the Rokoko are very good - I'd give the edge of finger capture to Rokoko due to being able to capture all five (PN3 only does 3 and kind of "interpolates" the other two) plus the Coil makes the finger tracking absolutely solid. The PN3 has one big advantage in that you can use it, with the straps, for any body type. But it has a huge disadvantage in that it takes FOREVER to take on and off, and you have to charge each sensor separately. I can put the Rokoko suit on AND calibrate in five minutes or so. It take at least 30 minutes for the PN3 and the calibration process adds another five minutes (and is very intensive -you have to hold several posees AND walk six steps, AND put your hands/fingers in a certain way). With both it helps to recalibrate periodically but because the PN3 is such a PITA to do so I tend not to, which means my captures with it drift a ton. Given the Rokoko is now on sale for 40% off it's really a no-brainer - I'd get it before the end of this month without a second through.

@@MikeDKelley Thanks for the response.This is EXACTLY what I needed, Sir. Question: Did you have the rokoko without the Coil? If so, how did that compare to the PN3? I'm just curious to know if the Coil is needed and, if so, when.

@@cthrower Crap - our internet went down and I just wrote a huge reply. Um, for one thing, write me at mike at kelleytown dot com and I'm always glad to answer ANY question. But, in essence, I would take advantage of this offer (ends September 30th) and if you find you need more accuracy you can add the coil to it (with a discount). I'll go over all the details about the suit, gloves and the coil in a stream I may well make tomorrow (Saturday at the latest). I might go live with it tomorrow but first I'll have to do some capture with the PN3 (I can't do IT live or folks will turn off after watching how long it takes. LOL).
