Catherine, David and Matt react live to Novak Djokovic's straight sets victory over Holger Rune and, in particular, to his post match interview when he took on the crowd. There's discussion about what that says about Djokovic's state of mind, analysis of his performance, and debate about where this performance leaves Rune. Elsewhere, there's chat about Taylor Fritz's comeback from two sets down to beat Alexander Zverev, a big milestone for Alex de Minaur but also worry he's injured himself on match points, and praise for how Lorenzo Musetti's game is translating to grass. On the women's side, Elina Svitolina spoke movingly and powerfully about the horrendous bombing of a children's hospital in Ukraine, and Jelena Ostapenko continued her dominant run through the draw. There's also discussion about the amount of indoor matches and a look ahead to the order of play for Tuesday.

What I'll say about Ostapenko Rybakina - it was mentioned that Ostapenko "hates" playing Rybakina, but the H2H is 3-2 for Rybakina with a win at Eastbourne for Ostapenko. But admittedly, all three Rybakina wins were 2023 and Ostapenko's were 2021 and 2019, before Rybakina was a Wimbledon champion so she's definitely a different player now. Also I don't really see Navarro as an upset. It's closer to 50-50 and they have a 3-0 H2H (for Navarro).

The amount of indoor matches is making it not quite feel like Wimbledon. I miss the sunshine, the way the light changes as you get the setting, early evening sun. You’re aware of what time of day it is, whereas with roof closed it’s identical all the time. Obviously Wimbledon can’t control the weather but I agree with Matt, they could err on the side of roof open wherever possible.

Rune needs a proper coach. He is a way off being near sinner and alcaraz for sure, but feel he will win a slam at some point if he is able to mature and knuckle down to the process of working out how he needs to win matches. So often feel he just net rushes in the wrong moments and leaves himself exposed. Anna/Elena match a big disappointment. Same with Collins. Sad to see her out.

Hundreds of millions of dollar, millions of fans, 24 majors and he still acts like such a whiny crybaby. He needs to sack up and act like some of his peers who have more class and maturity.

Regarding Emma Raducanu from yesterday--Not sure why David is so very partial to her and defended her where there's no ground for it. I saw her press conference where she dug in on dropping Andy after she saw the play schedule that the mixed would happen before her single--which she lost anyway. Yes fair enough if she wanted to focus on her singles bur at the very least an apology to Andy was in order. Neither regret and definitely no apology from her. Andy not saying anything was him being a gentleman. Emma skipped French because she didn't want to play the qualities like her peers, did she feel entitled? She came across as a spoiled who was raised to have little respect for commitment and hard work.

Ostopenko is a terrible tennis player, imo. Getting to QFs tells a lot about the coaches of her opponents, and/or the abilities of her opponents. Powerful strokes can never be equalized with power, especially from the baseline. No one is moving her to the net. That's why she loves playing against Iga - she uses Iga's power in her shots, same does Rybakina. Happy for Krejcikova, but kinda sad for Danielle. She wanted to play on Centre Court.
@johnrowell3583
@johnrowell3583 17 күн бұрын
Nonsense! Ostapenko won a slam, so she can't be terrible. It's true that she always goes for her shots no matter what, so some days she can be very bad, but when she's on she's almost unplayable and it takes a very good player with a forcing game (like Rybakina) to beat her.

@johnrowell3583 I respect your opinion, but I disagree. Any ATP player would crash her to a bagel. Not with power, but just making her run from side to side and to the net. Women give her winners on the platter. All she does is hit.
