<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="160">2:40</a> Comment on the United 737-200 you mentioned. ORD-GRR. First flight of the 737-200 for United. I flew on that flight (or one in the same week). April 1968. The week before flew GRR to ORD on a United DC-6 in the last week they had them in service on this route. A few of the DC-6s were used until 1970 or so on routes within California. In-flight time on this route on the DC-6 was about an hour and half that on the 737. Used to plane-spot at GRR in the 1970s. All United 737s & 727s, and North Central Airlines Convair 580s & DC-9s. North Central merged with Southern to become Republic, then acquired by Northwest, then by Delta.
