UPDATE: We are officially ON for the hike this Saturday June 29! We are planning to meet at 6:30AM sharp at the Mt. Baldy trailhead (standard route just above Manker Flat Campground). We will take the ski hut trail up and the backbone trail down, and we'll try to keep it a relatively chill pace so we can all chat, snack, and film some fun footage. GET STOKED YA'LL! As luck would have it, on 29 June, I am driving my wife's incredible aunt (a retired river rafting guide out of Moab Utah) to Albuquerque New Mexico to attend a Brit Floyd (recognized as one of the world's leading Pink Floyd cover bands) concert for her 75th birthday. Hey guys, thanks so much for setting this up, it was so wonderful to meet you both, and so many of your other subscribers. What a fantastic turnout! I wasn't sure if I was in shape to hike the Ski Hut trail to the summit, but I'm glad I did. My up-muscles didn't have much "up" left! I actually feel pretty good today. Getting older means being unsure of what you can do, and even sometimes what you should be doing. Thank you for all your encouragement, and for letting me share in one of your adventures! I will always remember it, and look forward to more in the future. Best of luck to both of you with your new life on the road away from LA. I know it will lead you to more glorious times!

David we made it out of LA yesterday at around 4:30, totally exhausted. But now we're in Bishop after a gorgeous sunrise walk, already blissfully happy and knowing we did the right thing! It was so great to share the Baldy adventure with you -- we'll never forget meeting you and that whole awesome crew of people, and it really set a great precedent for doing more of those in the future. Meanwhile, super stoked about all the big adventures coming up! ❤️

That's a great idea! In September, I'm making a Goodwill tour of California, much like Peter Frampton. But instead of traveling with 12 tractor trailer loads of music equipment, this will be a car trip. I will be in Discovery Bay for a water ski extravaganza just after Labor Day. After two full days there, which start around September 9th, I'm planning to drive over Sonora Pass to the Eastern Sierra, and start a series of day hikes. This is a tentative list of trailheads on the east side. Pine Creek Pass. Bishop pass. Sawmill Pass. Shepherd pass. That list could change. I've had this tour in mind since winter. As you could imagine, this is meant to be a "relive the past" pass tour, in that the original adventures were, like... 50 years ago. I'm pretty confident that "liquid altitude" will be an integral part of the tour meal plan!

My service finally returned about 15 minutes ago, so here is my original comment (copied and pasted): Wow! When I read what you wrote, I had quite a lot of exciting thoughts. Theoretically, you could even come by and see me at work if you wanted to. I have an extremely public job, and literally see what seems like thousands of different people on a regular basis. I have lots of conversations all the time with people I don't know from anywhere else. Of course where I live is pretty flat and certainly not mountainous, yet we also have quite an extensive trail system here. It certainly doesn't have the views you've been showing, but for exercising it's great. I personally am exercising indoors almost exclusively these days due to decades of exposure to the intense sunlight on my skin that has since resulted many years ago in problems with further exposure. If I go outside into the sun, I have to really "gear up" with a hat, bandannas, a long-sleeve shirt, light gloves, and so on.... We have a lot to do for people visiting in the area, and if you're interested, we could communicate some more. In any case, a cross-country trip would be nice! By the way, have you thought about walking across America? I'm not sure how safe that would be in reality. You both are really fun to watch in your videos!

We were thinking up ski hut, and then down the Devil's Backbone way with a beer or snack at the little notch restaurant before the last couple of miles down the road. ❤️

Yes the whole hike, going up Ski Hut trail with a super relaxed pace and down backbone trail and stopping for a beer and/or burger at the notch restaurant on the way down. Def come if you can -- 6:30 at the trail head! ❤️

That's the really exciting part -- we don't know yet! Eventually the plan is to settle in the Sierra, most likely Bishop or Mammoth, but before that we're going to wander nomadiclly from adventure to adventure, trying some different places on for size. It will be epic! ❤️
