Mount Russell: On the Knife Edge

Mount Russell has been on our hiking bucketlist for YEARS. But, because of its many challenging elements - 6000FT of climbing to its peak at 14,100FT in under 5 miles, its mile long knife edge class 3 ridge scramble, and its thunderstorm-prone location - we've spent the past few years physically preparing ourselves with extensive climbing training and waiting for the optimal conditions to make our summit attempt. Let us just say... the wait was worth it! This California 14er had it all - beautiful views of Mt. Whitney and the surrounding peaks, a classic hike in Eastern Sierra beauty, and a spicy ridge to top off the climb to the summit :) Of course, if you are interested in attempting to climb Mount Russell, proper experience/climbing/safety/navigation gear are essential.
