Congress is never in coming future. If Congress continue with the Gandhi family members as their Party President then they will lose continuously for 2024, 2029 and maybe 2034 too. Congress needs to do introspection and convince people that how they can become the better alternative of BJP and Modi. There is no credible face in Congress at the moment and party is confused right now. Congress has become like a regional party now. Congress won 44 seats in 2014 and 52 seats in 2019. With this poor performance I don't see they can challenge BJP at least for the next 2 general elections 2024 and 2029. I think in 2024 if they continue being confused then they might come 3rd party in points table. Maybe any regional party will get more seats than Congress in 2024.

@@TechWizardGinu If you said this 2 years back, I would have totally agreed with you. Tables have turned. All the effort and money put by bjp has gone to waste to destroy Rahul. There has been an undoubted revival of Congress and Rahul Gandhi, esp., through the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Why do you think PM still keeps attacking Congress, Rahul, Nehru, Manifesto? Worried very much. Otherwise, he should have already ignored them. I'm not a Congress or any party supporter - but this is the reality on the ground. The one who was responsible for BJP's growth is slowly becoming the reason for their downfall. It's no more BJP's government, BJP's guarantee..it's focused on one man and that will lead to their downfall. They tasted this in Karnataka election - they tried everything, led by PM, even religious polarization, but failed miserably. Now the way he / they are talking, very clearly they are not confident at all about 400 seats..that it least is very clear, even my BJP friends agree. With Congress' revival, it's not just Rahul Gandhi alone, the party as a whole has a voice, they can at least raise voice inside the party. They still have strong credible leaders in the party, credible lawyers, highly educated leaders. Those leaving are only doing good for the party. My prediction is a complete failure of BJP in 2024. If not, at least they'll go down and struggle bad to form a government that it'll teach them a lesson that they have to think more than a person. Once upon a time, many such leaders looked indispensable, but with time, they fade away.

@@Jt61603 - As on today the question looks laughable. Congress is in its lowest ebb. The decline of Congress has never seen so low at any period earlier. Also Congress has not been doing any constructive work to reinvigorate the party. The party is in shambles. The party chief is not making any effort to make the party strong. Nor do they have a road map for the same. The patchwork they are attempting may tear apart the party. The Congress do not have a leader who is accepted by wide spectrum of people. Gandhi family lost their luster and even credibility. They are becoming the liability for the party. Also they are not allowing any other to occupy the seat to challenge Modi. The Congress which have been crafting its strategies on secularism, appeasement, caste card, etc., to win elections all these years, have lost touch of the people’s requirements. All these have become outmoded and people do not recognize them now. Congress is not ready to change. The credibility of Congress, which has dropped too low because of series of scandals that it has been identified with, is still fresh in the minds of the people and have not been erased. Congress is finding it difficult to erase itself of the same. On the contrary Modi remain blemishless. Congress party’s top leaders who are their think tanks, are involved in big time corruption scandals. Many are jailed and now on bail. The party has got the name ‘bail party’ too. With so many negatives affecting the party, Congress may find the road to Delhi too impossible to attempt. May be they may be trying to retain the present position intact. Congress will not be able to win 2024.

What a fantastic analysis of the current election ad campaigns. As is rightly pointed out, the game changer is the mobile and social media. While this allows a larger reach, it's also true, as pointed out here, that many ad campaigns are not seen. Viewers have too many options.

The interesting thing I feel is that when I was in the US (and I'm not even a US citizen) I would received emails, text messages, youtube ads, mailers etc. from people running for elections. Rahul Gandhi never had credibility and thus, Manmohan was made puppet PM 2nd time instead of Rahul Gandhi as Sonia can’t be PM of India legally. When Rahul was announced as PM candidate in 2014, he lost with huge margin, 2nd time he was made PM candidate, he even loose with the biggest margin in 2019. Congress being a dynasty party (total non-democratic), it is still not moving away from Nehru-Ghandi dynasty, and that will end Congress one day! (I am very optimistic about it). Recently in last few years with Twitter handle of Rahul Gandhi using Hindi instead of English in Tweets, started getting more followers, but, when we put in prospective of politics from Rahul Gandhi as opposition, his most concentration is still old politics of Hindu-Muslim-Dalit or Businessman-Commonman or stupid blame games. Congress hardly has any strong new regional leaders anywhere. Rahul Gandhi needs to understand that the election is not an ideological battle but the batter to win the votes. He will have to leave his hardcore leftist ideology and give space to other regional leaders. The new Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will have to work very hard to build the party from the grassroot level and free the party from nepotism. On paper, Congress had the potential to dent BJP's tally significantly in the 2024 election (but as of now it seems unlikely given the present state of Congress).
