It's a good question. I saw that Zillow added a feature to their site that will analyze weather disaster risks for given properties. Sounds like a positive development. Florida is headed for the bottom of the ocean. It's not a good place to invest in property on that reason alone. But many seem totally in denial about this and I guess some are selling for top dollar while they can still hook fools and suckers. Florida is also governed by a very unserious man who plays politics on EVERYTHING. There's not much one can put in the plus column when it comes to FL. For me it's tied with Texas for being the most overrated states in the union.

Go to a high rise hotel. They let people in. Hurricane Ike caused 75% of my island(Galveston) to go under water. I was in a car with 2 dogs. I stayed in the parking garage It will take years to get on your feet just try to stay calm. Praying for you our gulf coast family.
