@agh0x01 Yes, there was an illegal, violent coup against a president who was elected by people in the East and South of Ukraine. There was resistance against the coup, including in Kharkov. The 'interim' Ukrainian government, led by an ultranationalist, then decided to invade the resisting areas.

The Russian and later Soviet government, for centuries, worked to eradicate Ukrainian language and culture and forced the people to speak Russian. They imprisoned and killed people for speaking the language, and writing in it. Thousands of writers, and even blind bards who sang ballads were exterminated. Because of that, they turned swaths of Ukraine Russian speaking. Primarily in the SouthEast. Kind of like what the English did with the Irish language only on steroids. It's still not real Russian, though. It is accented, the grammar is not the same the vocabulary is not the same. Kind of like Irish English. Now, when Ukraine, after independence, took steps to restore its language and culture, Russia started claiming that Ukraine was 'oppressing' its Russian-speaking population ( which Russia had created by force in the first place). And illogically, it started bombing the Russian speaking cities of Ukraine to protect those Russian speakers. Russia is truly mentally ill. You can't reason with it.
@rafflesmaos3 күн бұрын

Remember in the 90s when we said we (US) wouldn't expand NATO in agreement with Russia? Who's making $$$?
@kelleychilton25243 күн бұрын
Yes, excellent point 👍 the seeds of this conflict were sown in the 1990s. Bubba Bill Clinton was too preoccupied playing with his intern and scrambling to cover it up, meanwhile a golden opportunity for lasting peace was squandered in Europe.

It’s not complicated: simply stated, for the war to end Ukraine cannot join NATO, and once this is agreed with Russia, I doubt Putin will return the 20% of Ukraine he’s now occupying. When nations make poor geopolitical decisions, the solutions needed to correct past mistakes can take years and thousands of lives to restore balance.
@bk8182 күн бұрын
no friend it's not that complicated at all: and it's simple yes, for the end of the war, Ukraine can't join NATO, with one little thing that everyone forgets... that NATO is already present in Ukraine for 30+ years ago...which is armed and built military bases around the country and prepared for the current war and the attack on the Russian Federation... and not only NATO, but several previous American governments and administrations which are physically present in the country and with their corporations... so he doesn't have an agreement with Russia, just as you doubt that Putin will return 20% of Ukraine, which he now occupies... it's just not occupied by Putin, but the Russian population voluntarily decided independently to join the Russian Federation by regerendum... because it could no longer withstand the Ukrainian, (American) regime and the terror and fighting since 2014. And it is not Ukraine that made bad geopolitical decisions as a country, Where it has been since 2010, since the Orange Revolution, it is no longer there... The owners of Ukraine have accepted it... Ukrainian and Russian people and youth who die are just collateral damage.. .just a means to achieve their goals...it's just another lucrative profitable business with those who started this war....sorry...no offense...this is just my view on this situation...

I have been to Ukraine during the war. As have many westerners. A group of doctors I traveled with two years ago wept at the Ukrainian children they treated that had been raped by Russian troops. They also marveled at the courage of young soldiers, who although injured, sometime gravely, just wanted to get back to the front and continue defending their land. I imagine you’ll call me a liar too. But I have to ask-why? What makes you so certain that these reports are false? That they are liars? That I am a liar? I could put you in touch with close to a hundred volunteers that will give you their own accounts of being in Ukraine. And they will tell you this isn't propaganda. Would you believe them? Would you be willing to go there yourself and see the reality with your own eyes? Dismissing the suffering of millions as "propaganda" without firsthand knowledge feels deeply unjust. I ask this of all of you, who commented here.

Ukrainians are fighting not just for our right to exist but also for the values that are the foundation of the entire Western world. We might be oceans apart from Americans, yet we are united in the fight for freedom. We don’t ask for you to come fight for us; we ask for the weapons and support you would give your very best. Because we are those people, standing firm for shared principles and the freedom that defines us all.

Какие ещё "values of western world" ?

This brave journalist and patriot for his nation is not an objective source of news, he clearly and understandably is biased, but that does not mean he is accurate source. 60minutes please, do some homework regarding origins of this civil war between Ukrainians who support the 2014 putsch (backed by the West) and the Ukrainianz opposing it (backed by RF). I have relatives fighting on both sides. *** Here in Odessa we are afraid of being hunted down by the Zelensky's press gangs, who forcibly "recruit" 25-60 year old men in our streets, shopping malls, restaurants, fitness clubs public transport, roadblocks... and - recently in night clubs, pubs and even at the rock concerts. The only men not press ganged into Ukrainian Army are relatives of politicians and ... grave diggers. I rest my case. Привіт iз Одеси
