I can’t see that Labour would be any better than the Conservatives are. It could have seized the opportunity and ridiculed the Tories for not achieving any of its promises - but didn’t.

Can't or choose to pretend not to their is a difference, 1 we never had NHS on its knees under labour (doesn't fit your argument so let's just pretend it didn't happen) And 2. Poorer areas got some funding under labour (again doesn't fit your argument so let's just pretend it didn't happen) Weird

3. GB Power. This has clearly been carefully considered with regards to the dynamics of UK energy markets; a logical juncture for a government acting on behalf of the people and the environment. However, I have another offer - and it's such a big one that of course the initial answer is No. Nonetheless, I'd like to suggest developing Magma Energy - as described by Nasa/Sandia Labs in 1982: "The current magma energy project is assessing the engineering feasibility of extracting thermal energy directly from crustal magma bodies. The estimated size of the U.S. resource (50,000 to 500,000 quads) suggests a considerable potential impact on future power generation. In a previous seven-year study, we concluded that there are no insurmountable barriers that would invalidate the magma energy concept." Current global energy demand is only 600 quads, so of course I realise the immense geopolitical and economic difficulties such a proposal implies. Supplying limitless clean energy is ridiculous on the face of it. But climate change implies enormous economic upheaval of some kind or another, sometime soon. Pro-actively developing a massively more than adequate energy platform, to transition by around 2050, will lessen and manage the disruption from doing so - and give us the power to directly mitigate climate chaos with desalination, irrigation, recycling and carbon capture. I'm beyond being embarrassed about how absurd it is to suggest this; because the more I examine it, the more I think it would work, and that it's the right approach to the climate and ecological crisis. Not a strategy of backing down, having less and paying more, but transcending Limits to Growth via the application of technology and expenditure of huge quantities of constant clean renewable energy from magma.

Richard Tice, interviewed on TV said he wants to run the country like a business. Conflation of State and corporate power is a standard definition of fascism. If he means that - it should be noted that the natural interests of corporate fascist elites on an issue like immigration are not consistent with a nativist or populist interest. Right wing elites want mass immigration to undermine unions, workers rights and wages. Vote Labour. Get involved. Join a union.
