Teacher Hadar, how are you? Today I was listening to two English speakers talk to each other and I realized that they also use the "flap d" when they said "I don't need etc etc". I still don't know if I hear that correctly but it reminded me of you and this video, so I run to my phone and here I'm, asking you another question hehe. Greetings from Santiago, Chile.

Thanks Hadar for the awesome video. I'm still unclear though about the subtle difference in pronunciation (if any) between 'd' and 't' when they are both in the same word. For example, in the words: liquiDiTy, valiDiTy, preDaTor, or in phrases like 'I deleTeD it'. I have the same question for the case of 'r' and 't', as in the words: chaRiTy, matuRiTy, irRiTaTing. And here you have a couple words that combine everything ('d', 'r' and 't'): heReDiTy, desiDeRaTa. I would really appreciate any help on figuring out how to correctly pronounce those words since they really are tongue-twisters for me. Thank you again. Keep up the good work!

Hi Hadar! I love your videos and I've learned so much from you!! I have a request, can you please make a video about the word "University"? I can't for the life of me pronounce it correctly. I tried the Spanish "r" method but it sounds like "anniversary". Pronounce it with a "d" also feels wrong. I know we shouldn't pronounce it with a "t", but the other two options sound weird for me. So can you make a video of how to pronounce it? Thank you!!

Hadar I noticed that the word "curtain" doesn't have two vowels between the T and the pronounce of the T is like Cotton, button. Why? Is it an exception?
@hadar.shemesh6 жыл бұрын
No, this is what I call the 'nasal T' (not flap t) and it happens when the T is before a schwa and then an N.

Excellent video! I must say that It was shocking when I heard an American friend saying winer instead of winter and denist instead of dentist! But I still don't understand why cotton and bottom have different sounds dorT.. Is it because of the N and M iending the words?
@hadar.shemesh6 жыл бұрын
Because it's before a Schwa and N. it behaves differently

I'm not sure you have it in Hindi. You have a similar R sound, but the tip of the tongue is curled back which gives it a different quality.

I don't like the flap D and the flap T, they are unclear and when I hear them I think I mishear them, they sound sloppy and distorted, even not like an R sound. That's why I don't pronounce this sound, so that "matter" and "madder" are not homophones but a minimal pair, and I don't pronounce "native" as /'neɪɾɪv/ but as /'neɪtɪv/.
@hadar.shemesh6 жыл бұрын
More of a British pronunciation. That's still clear and accurate:)
@orhoushmand856 жыл бұрын
Accent's Way English However, I still stick to the American accent. As of today, my accent in English is based upon the American accent, but without the flap D/T.

@mardbenzmura14466 жыл бұрын
little the i is short like in six and the T is flap "treat'em like they're one T" the E at the end is silent sex the E is ɛ like in red and yeah it's like A as in cat but not really kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYPUZ5yLfcmYi9E see this please so you know the difference between them ten and tin well ten the E here is ɛ as in red vowel tin with ɪ short i like in sit vowel sound by the way ɛ sound could be represented by e symbol they look different symbols only in looks "not in sound" I'm not sure about all the cases tho internet the first T you could drop it and the T at the end is stop T so don't release the air I hope that helped
