Yeah, honestly, the amount of great singers who have come out in the last year or 2 is astonishing. I probably gave up listening to "pop" about 5-10 years ago but really getting back into listening to Radio 1 again. I think they had a wake up call a few years ago when Radio 2 audience beat them. They seem to have put more effort into finding and encouraging British talent. Really cool :)

The problem is these artists have great voices but waste them in generic, shitty pop songs with a fuck ton of autotune.
@tomj19694 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it takes listening to the tracks that aren't singles. Haven't fallen in love with any new rock bands in the past 10 years other than Royal Blood, but after initially dismissing them out of hand I've found a lot of the pop singers my kids listen to are influenced a lot by the rock music I love and have some great songs. That being said, I am really hoping for a rock and roll resurgence. Are there any great new rock bands over the past 10 years that I have been missing?

I never lost my ability to play the guitar but expression that I used to have when I play the guitar was gone. Going through speech therapy and getting back to talk it again and reading and spelling again was pretty hard but wanting to play the guitar again was even harder. One of my speech therapist forced me to pic a song learn it on the guitar and sing it. And this was the song I picked. Thank you Foo Fighters. Speech therapist are God sends!

Nice! Glad to hear you're on the path to recovery. You're right, therapists, RNs, PNPs, and docs are great - my wife is a Pediatrician. She wears a splash guard, mask, and hazmat suit for 14 hours a day - her only complaint is that if she gets COVID she is worried that she might still give it to her little patients.... so when I see people complaining about wearing a mask for 15 minutes - I tend to get a little unhinged. But Im glad you're doing better. Edit: Sorry for ranting

David Brennan my little sister is working the frontline in London. We’re from Australia and she’s over in London doing her thing for your country. She’s a paramedic and ambulance driver. We are terribly worried being so far away from her. She, along with her boyfriend and flat mates are all frontline workers and they did catch COVID, but were A symptomatic due to being so fit. They knocked the virus on the head after quarantining for the mandatory 14 days and as soon as they got their third negative test, they went straight back out on the frontline. As I said we are extremely worried, but even more so than if it were me, as she only has one kidney and in some cases, even if you beat the virus, you may end up with 20-30% permanent vital organ damage. Luckily she walked away unscathed from her brush with it. I’m a man without faith, so I just keep my metaphorical fingers crossed that she keeps on kicking arse like she is and stays healthy and safe. ♥️

Dave openly hates Coldplay so much I don't get why Chris Martin was even involved
@alexhormann61894 жыл бұрын
@@1987thedrums I think it's because Chris is very much about charity these days and hence I suspect that he's the one behind the entire montage in the first place. It was Chris who organised the Ariana Manchester concert, Chris who organised the #TogetherAtHome instagram COVID movement and he's headlined many Amnesty International events. He still supports the "love button" movement hence why he wears it publically at the time (even here). He's become a big figure amongst musicians due to these charity endeavours (think about all the connections needed to organise the Manchester One Love concert) and hence why he gets gigs such as the 50th superbowl halftime show. Given his repertoire with organising feel-good events in times of strife as well as his insane network with musicians, especially British musicians, it makes me believe he was the one who organised the piece of art you just enjoyed and THAT is why he's in the video. Just like Manchester, he doesn't do it to seek fame (he didn't perform much at Manchester even though he organised the event) and hence, it'd be just like him to sneak himself onto the very end of the montage. Also, hate him or like him, you can't deny he's one of Britains most awarded and successful musicians and hence he deserves his place here just like everyone else.

Hearing this brings me back to the days of no cars on the motorway, regular police checkpoints and masks. This hits different these days. Every now & then I come back to listen & remember. Feel these lyrics, whoever mixed this did an incredible job, a whole bunch of extremely talented singers/musicians, what a mixture of styles too. It's beautiful that Daves voice is still right there every time he's in the mix. Something that always sticks with me. To anyone that's having a hard time. Pressure makes diamonds ❤ RIP Taylor

Was there ever a lyric that more perfectly fitted the time of recording. Brilliant cover of an epic song.

This is such an awesome version, I’ve heard the acoustic version of this song in the past, but in this version the finger style arpeggios (instead of the straight strumming) really add depth to the song’s vibe. Kudos to all the performers, the producer, and sound engineer. David Grohl willingness to share the spotlight is legend. Sean Paul’s contribution to a new middle eight was perfect. The whole collaborative result is brilliant.

Totally agree! Does anyone know the notes to play this? Such an improvement to the straight d chord with alternate g string hammerings.

I totally agree, too. I discovered it last week, and I can't stop watching it. The song's message is always an important one, and especially during the worldwide coronavirus shut-in (check the premier date). I hadn't heard of many of the young British artists, but they're all very good. In addition to the performers, the producer, the sound engineer, and Dave Grohl, I would like to add kudos to the arranger. He / she did a masterful job of assigning who sang what. As Tony Ronco said, this is just brilliant!

Just listened to the cover of this on BBC Radio 1. Although I absolutely love the Foo Fighters (Dave Grohl is a music mastermind!), you can really hear what the lyrics are saying in a new way in this cover. This song & lyrics have just been elevated for me on a whole other level!
