Welcome to #Gangwon2024! The 4th Winter Youth Olympic Games will take place in the province of Gangwon in the Republic of Korea, which already hosted the Olympic Winter Games #PyeongChang2018. These are the first Winter YOG to be held in Asia and will build on the Olympic Games legacy and engage even more young people through various activities before, throughout and after the Games.
There are 15 sports taking place (Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, Bobsleigh, Cross-Country Skiing, Curling, Figure Skating, Freestyle Skiing, Ice Hockey, Luge, Nordic Combined, Short Track Speed Skating, Skeleton, Ski Jumping, Snowboard & Speed Skating) across nine venues, and you can enjoy the action both on KZbin (limited coverage) and Olympics website (all available events).

sign me up for commentary because ill hype these skaters so hard ( as they deserve to be hyped up ! ). Its heartbreaking to hear such negative comments throught the program, especially to juniors. Best of luck for long program kiddos!

the comentators are awful. YOG is once in a lifetime experience and these skaters are junior skaters who are still developing, it's really not difficult to be kind. their commentaries didn't provide any useful information to both regular watchers and fans of figure skating, like why brought up the competitor's height?

What a horrible commentator (the woman specifically), so nasty to the children competing here. Did she think she was hosting the real olympics? And no insightful commentary either. No mention of Calya Smith’s previous successes with her last partner. Just comments on a persons height and the suggestion that she shouldn’t be a pairs skater, no mention of how the reigning olympic champions also didn’t have a great height difference but the success they had despite it. She just really detracted from my ability to enjoy the actual skating demonstrated here for what it is, such a shame.

I have to agree with everyone else here and say that some of the commentator's insertions were just harsh and unwelcome on regards to talking about literal children. Criticising based on one's height is the sort of attitude that leads children in sports such as figure skating and gymnastics to be discriminated based on physical attributes that can not always be changed. Let the criticism be based on skill and technical ability please. Stop this body shaming, it's 2024 people can't change the height miraculously.

No one is shaming their height, they are speaking to laws of physics as to what will work best. No one said, he is too tall or too short, he needs to grow/shrink. It may however be in their teams best interest to look into more compatible partners. It isn't just about aesthetics but safety.

As others have said, the commentary here is absolutely appalling. Many knowledgeable former skaters could provide commentary here and be more informed about the sport and kinder to the skaters. Commenting negatively on athletes' bodies should be a no-go for any event, but when these are children, it's especially inappropriate.

There are many knowledgeable former skaters around but that doesn't mean that they're available or even willing to do commentary for the Youth Olympics. They have lives to lead like anyone else.

Ya'll need to get a backbone, these skaters are far stronger than you all!! They don't need lies to be fed to them, they are skating to be judged. Nothing said was wrong that I heard. These are young ladies and gentlemen not little kids! They've heard all of this and far more from coaches and others. Don't put your insecurities on them!!

So skaters cannot compete in both the nationals and the Youth Olympic Games. Cayla Smith/Jared McPike are not even competing in the junior division of the 2024 United States Figure Skating Championships which occurred last week They are a new pairs couple. Cayla Smith competed in the junior division of the United States Figure Skating Championships in 2022, but with a different partner, Andy Deng. They placed 5th with 126.11 points.

@@tolgonai9042 To be eligible to participate in the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024, all male and female athletes must be born between 1 January 2006 and 31 December 2009. This is only a four-year span. So an athlete can easily age out. For pairs skaters, the chances for an athlete aging out doubles. Furthermore, only Skaters fulfilling both ISU and IOC citizenship/residency requirements may be entered. According to the Olympic Charter, Rule 41, only citizens of the NOC/ISU Member may be entered. This citizenship requirement does not exist in the Junior World Figure Skating Championship. So a binational figure skating pair that is eligible for the Junior World Figure Skating Championship is ineligible for the Youth Olympic Games. The countries earned quota spots based on the results of the 2023 World Junior Championships and the 2023-24 JGP Final. *From ISU Communication No. 2546* On the basis of the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2023, an initial set of YOG Quota Places has been assigned to the respective NOCs/Members. The assignment of remaining YOG Quota Places to be allocated to NOCs/Members will be based on the results from individual events held on the occasion of the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating during the Autumn of 2023. .. ...For Pair Skating, the top two (2) best ranked Members/NOCs in the Final Ranking of the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating series season 2023/24, that have not been already allocated a quota place in the respective discipline as per summary in point 1 above, will earn one (1) YOG Quota Place for the concerned discipline. Позор и днище! Это недокататели, в торговых центрах можно так удивлять публику….но на соревнованиях 😢, это унижение , уровень спортсменов…, хотя тут и уровня нет вообще! Удачи ребятам, пусть посмотрят правде в глаза и попробуют соревноваться с Российскими спортсменами!
