It is actually preferred by the courts that officers read the rights directly from the piece of paper so that the officer can say without a doubt that they read the suspect their rights exactly as they’re supposed to be read. When officers say it from memory there’s more of a chance of messing up and if it is determined in court that the officer messed up the Miranda rights then all of the suspect’s answers will be dismissed from the court due to self incrimination

I grew up in Columbia SC...My grandparents lived on the Northeast side of town, near Fort Jackson, and either Richland County has a come a long way in public relations (as in they have a good majority of positive interactions with the public) OR this show being involved with the department has made them be on their toes...whatever the case it's cool to see some of the places I grew up around featured on cable television. In my opinion it's the most entertaining department that is followed on LIve PD as well...
