Hi Urban. I have enjoyed your channel and have watched all of the episodes from your trip. Thank you! I own a 2009 Vstrom that looks identical to yours. I found a steal of a deal and purchased it 2 years ago with 24000 kms on it. It brings a smile to my face every time I ride it.

Hey Urb shows are great and your doing your your program line ups for the right reasons. Doing this and enjoying what you are doing is more important than anyone can realize. I have a very similar situation in my life and I started building bikes and love every single second of it. Being a caretaker takes a toll on your entire Being and you are exactly right about looking outside of your world and realizing how close we all are to a new solar system or vision through another lens once we have moved into another dimension. The trip series was awesome and it will have many more perks down the road besides the numbers. Take care and keep up the self satisfying videos and you will never be working but rather just doing what you want to do each and every day. Thanks for sharing your story, Kevin from Indiana

Thanks Kevin for those sage words and for watching. I agree on all points. Jimi Hendrix said it best..."I'm the one that's got to die when it's time for me to die, so let me live my life the way I want to."

Wasnt able to view live because of work, but i just wanted to leave a comment that i enjoyed the series. The electric motorcycle could be fun, i would certainly watch it. Maybe at some point have a go myself (but batteries and me dont work well together).

Hi Urban, I was initially attracted to your channel because of the wrenching you were performing on your V-Strom. But I have to say, I greatly enjoyed watching each episode of your cross-country journey. I appreciated the honesty and humble demeanor that you always displayed in your narration. I have a 2007 V-Strom 1000 with less than 10K miles that I enjoy riding. The miles are low due to the limited riding season here in Seattle and also because I have to share the love with my Goldwing and Harley Road Glide. I am looking forward to more of your videos. Best wishes to you and your family. P.S. - I play drums too!

Hello! Thanks for watching and for the kind words. I've always said I'll own a Goldwing someday and I still intend to. This Strom just keeps working so well I can't justify it yet.

Hi Urban, Andy here from Devon in the UK. Missed the live event but I am catching up later today. Just to say I really enjoyed the trip content and please keep it up. Keep the Vstrom forever. Btw, believe me fuel is cheap in the US. 😄
@UrbanMonkTV2 жыл бұрын
I figured viewers in UK and EU would find our fuel cheap. Frankly it's too cheap. We'd probably be further ahead in electric vehicle adoption if it were priced better. Conversely, I couldn't have taken this trip on an electric bike, not in the time I did it. Thanks for watching Andy.

Thanks again for documenting your trip. Can you comment on how you found camping looking back on the whole trip? Were the hotels a very welcome relief or could you have camped the entire way? Stay safe😄
@UrbanMonkTV Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! If I wasn't visiting family as much as I did I would have camped more. There were ample showers available at campgrounds and I could use laundromat for laundry more than I did. Trip would have been cheaper had I camped more. Also, moving all my stuff into a hotel and back out to bike was about as much work as setting up camp and taking down each day, so that's a wash.
@patricklall4433 Жыл бұрын
@@UrbanMonkTV Interesting. I had not considered packing and unpacking the bike. When you put it like that, I guess it comes down to how comfortable a tent set-up can be achieved for how managable it is to camp over a long trip. Many say that the rigors of travel necessitates a proper bed, but I demur.

Hey I’m commenting on this because it’s your most recent video but it’s in regards to your gs550 build. I have been building my own and you have been so helpful and gotten me very close to a first start but one last thing seems to be wrong. When I’m neutral it spins free like it should and I can shift through all of the gears but the clutch will not disengage when I pull the clutch lever. I have taken off the oil cap and can see and feel that the plates are not frozen up which was my first thought. And when I turn the engine over in gear the wheel spins so I know the transmission is not frozen either. I am stumped if u have any ideas let me know thank you keep it up 👍
@UrbanMonkTV2 жыл бұрын
That is really common with these bikes. I have a video somewhere in there dealing with my stuck clutch. The pressure plate looks like it's moving but the plates are still stuck. I had to drop in gear many times over (with engine warm) to unstick it.
@nlfishing13022 жыл бұрын
@@UrbanMonkTV thank you yes I saw that but I have removed all of the plates and the basket still will not turn exept with a lot of force
@nlfishing13022 жыл бұрын
I’m thinking maybe the main shaft of the transmission is just very stuck

I thoroughly enjoyed your series. Your travel style is very similar to ours. Please don't stress over the KZbin numbers. KZbin has become a waste land of fluff. Successfully motorcycle channels have become nothing but cute girls with tons of sponsors broadcasting their drama. Keep doing what you do for your own enjoyment. Electric bikes??? Big yawn.

Hi urban Rob here from Scotland 👍. I noticed every now and again your language had a very Scottish tone ( Anyhoo,) is that a nod to your Celtic audience 😀. Anyhoo ,, you mentioned the slight lack of interest in some individual videos you did. Well, I don't think it was anything to do with not liking what you were putting out there but more the fact there was so much to watch. Even though I watched all the videos and liked them all.,,, I feel iv missed so much of it . I didn't take a lot of it in. So will more than likely watch it all again. Short videos are easier and quicker to judge and like . That might explain the rusty screw one. Anyhoo. Looking forward for some more of the same and glad your not about to retire old reliable ( bike not you) . 😀 . Anyhoo,,,Have a good rest, with the mileage you done and not to mention the video editing.... you must need it 👍👍👍

Thanks! I'm not sure where I picked up anyhoo. I grew up in Fargo where we speak "Minnesotan" mainly - strong Scandinavian influence, but also close to Manitoba/Ontario where there's more Scottish influence. I sometimes find myself saying Bob's your uncle, which is absolutely not from my part of the world, so I think globalization is mixing things up. Hello from sunny Los Angeles! I'd love to ride your beautiful country sometime and take a dip in cool loch.
@bobbyedal27372 жыл бұрын
@@UrbanMonkTV Well , the NC 500 is the obvious touring road in Scotland but if you ever do come over ,,pick your time of the year carefully. It can be bumper to bumper with caravanettes. And don't forget a thick water proof woolly jumper for that dip in the loch.. its Baltic anytime of the year .
