Yes, they may bring jobs back to the states but that's just the surface level. First off, we are living in 2025, technology has greatly improved and now require less employees, not to mention Trump now loves H1b because Musk and Ramaswamy both need cheap labor from countries like India so we can already say goodbye to jobs. Second off, we live in a capitalist country, due to tariffs, businesses have to pay the US even more money, which would obviously cause some to move back to the US, BUT, now that they realize that they no longer have to pay tariffs, who says they have to lower the prices? They can still keep that overcharged price and put more money into their pockets and this, forces smaller businesses in America to also raise their prices in order to keep up. Of course, Trump can cap the cost but unfortunately for the con man, that's too "radical left" for him.

When these tariffs come into effect, we may see a slight hike in the price of imported goods, but the primary goal is to even out the effect by forcing manufacturers to return to US soil. Give them temporary tax relief while they set up the manufacturing here, then close the route back out of the country by increasing import teriffs yet again. Imported goods used to be a luxury purchase with most things, not an everyday expense. It needs to be made that way again. Its a chicken vs egg thing, but this time we're breaking the egg and making a nice teriff money income omelette.

Whether tariffs reduce real incomes depends on whether all else is equal. Trump isn't just implementing tariffs. He's reducing taxes and doing away with burdensome regulations to actually allow entrepreneurs to produce.
