This man famously known as Ramesh Kaccha Chiwadawala in Nagpur sells a healthy snack called Kaccha Poha Chivda. It's made by mixing the Puffed rice with thin poha , onion , chilli, peanuts, channa and garnished with coriander leaves. Price is just Rs 10 for one serving and it tastes very yummy.

I once eneolled in food science class back when I'm a second year university student. I can confirm that you have more chance of getting food poisoning from frozen food than a hot and straight from the pan food. The heat kills so many dangerous things. If the ingredients are not rotten or contaminated with dangerous chemical, it is almost always safe. Coal even have beneficial property for your digestive system and often added in medicine. In Thailand we love street food too and it is the way we live and we are proud of our culture. Why salt? This doesn't make any sense to me. Sand would heat up and surround the rice and make it pop. Does salt also heat up? and is there black salt? never saw black salt before.

Yes, there is black salt. Salt is edible seasoning. Do you want to munch on your treat, only to bite down on rock hard pebbles? Sand would inevitably end up in the finished product. It would be awful.

@@jstanton4561 as far as the rice is dry sand wouldn't stick to the popped grains. There are other videos where people comment that there are different styles of doing it, some regions seem to preferr sand, some salt. I guess sand is easier and cheaper. Also it may get hotter? Heating upt salt is a new concept for me.

@@gingerglue1579 hi, you can use either sand or salt, no major issue. But it also about cost, as often salt in large quantities can be expensive, but it can easily be reused. and salt roasting works the same as sand, as you described :) Also, that's 'kala namak' or black salt in the video!

No it is not sand , it's salt and if any grain of salt go with food into you it will not harm you but some grain of sand will destroy all the food , the colour of salt is blackened by continuous use and it's not unhyegenic.

In Karnataka we call it puri (not poori) only for puffed rice. We buy in small desi shops also & eat as it is like with white plane puri, or we add roasted chana, means the outer layer of chana will be absent, & inside it's yellowish(& that one). Some times with nuts, or exact same like this video made in home. In karnataka chur muri also famous, it has onion, small green chilli pieces, lemon syrup, chana, nuts. Etc..!
