This song...is so beautiful. How good Tuomas is. I have said many times in many reaction videos that Tuomas is our modern day metal Mozart. Maybe he does not know it but we Nightwish lovers know it. He is so humble and polite person. And those songs and lyrics he does. I was at Nightwish concert 17th June 2023 and I tell you, if you ever have a chance seeing them live, go! When I drove back home from that concert about 400 kilometers, I stopped after..soon when I had a chance to car stop place. Step out from my car and...what did I experienced. I never ever forget that live show and I am going to watch them 2024 after they release their newest album. Tuomas is our national treasure 🤘❤

Weekly released Donald Duck comics have a long tradition in Scandinavia. At my parents house there are hundreds of comics from when I was a kid, and some even from when my mom grew up in the 50s. Each comic has short stories about the characters in the Donald Duck universe. And from time to time a bonus comic came with the weekly comic. The bonus comics had one longer story. The story of which this song is based off of, came divided into three of these bonus comics if I recall correctly. And it was one of my absolute favourites. If you ask people who grew up reading these comics a lot will have their favourite person to draw the drawings, writing the story etc, and they have their favourite stories. The comics were a big motivator for me to learn how to read, and they 100% shaped my interest of history.

Sadly, the Disney Corporation has decided to ban a couple of the stories ("The Richest Duck in the World" [i.e. "The Empire-Builder from Calisota"] & "The Dream of a Lifetime") from being reprinted due to the company feeling that they are culturaly insensitive. Don Rosa afterward stated the following: "... obviously all 12 chapters of my [Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck] are now banned because they can't be published without the final chapter." 😢

I'll be flying from Scotland to Finland in February to see a solo show by Nightwish drummer Kai Hahto in Helsinki and unbeknown to me at the time I booked my ticket, Altamullan Road (the two Johanna's) also have several Finnish live show's lined up during Jan/Feb/March. Fortunately for me, the dates are such that the day after Kai's show I can make a trip to Kouvola to catch the gig by these wonderful ladies before heading for home. By the way, their album is superb, I picked up a copy in Helsinki in June and it's been a constant on my play list; if you like Auri, you will love this.

The conductor of the orchestra was James Shearman, who often works with the London Philharmonic Orchestra in various projects (concerts, film scores, etc.). Tuomas often uses the same people on his albums. In production and as musicians. As the London Philharmonic Orchestra has been a partner since 2004. Pip Williams has been the person who could be said to be the glue between Nightwish and the orchestra and choirs. He has been involved in Nightwish's albums 5.-9. + Tuomas's solo album, but with the tenth NW album coming out in spring 2024, James Shearman took over his work. Pip Williams had to step aside (this year he is already 77 years old). When this solo album was recorded, it was the fourth collaborative album with an orchestra in a row (there were 3 NW albums before this). So they already knew each other well. I understand that the members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra respect Tuomas as a composer and like his music. For the 2012 NW world tour, a concert in England was planned, which would have included the London Philharmonic Orchestra + choirs (adults + children). But the schedules could not be arranged - NW, LPO, choirs and the most difficult thing was to arrange a concert hall big enough for them. Unfortunately, there hasn't been a new attempt since then. I would agree to pay a pretty big ticket price for a concert if such an event were to happen in the future!!! Christi, remember that the background tracks for Nightwish are the London Philharmonic and various choirs from the UK. Tuomas wrote all the music for the symphony and choirs so it's not like he is unfamiliar with classical music.

I would heavily recommend checking out "Look My Way" song for an adult orientated web animation series. An amazing song with so much emotion through voice breaks and such. The song is fully sung by the voice actor himself, whom I believe is a musical theatre actor.

Usually a man called Pip Williams makes the full orchestra and choir arrangements, but from the video Pip is not the one conducting, so best guess would be the conductor of the London Philharmonic who was used in this recording and in 2014 this was Vladimir Jurowski and I could be wrong, but from a Google image search of him, to me it looks like him in the video.

The way Emppu ja Mikko use to do solo is quite common in Finnish music. Quitarist Ile Kallio describe it "Just let quitar sing" Kallio did hole song El Condor Pasa that way. By the way on the video Don Rosa did draw actual album cover to the Tuomas's album.

Over here in Sweden, it's been a tradition since many years to watch a special Christmas show featuring Donald Duck & the gang on the telly during Christmas Eve. Disney found the Swedish obsession with this a bit weird. 😁 If I'm not mistaken, Donald etc are even more popular in neighbouring Finland.

To answer your question about orchestration, Tuomas does not conduct or do the orchestration himself. If my memory serves right, he typically sends a basic synthesized version of what he'd like it to sound like to an orchestra he hires, like the London Philarmonic Orchestra and they do the actual orchestration.

Okei. Little facts. In Finland are Donald Duck a much bigger thing then Mickey Mouse. Almost every one hu have been child in the 70's, 80's and 90's has been reading Donald Duck magasines. And then to this Music. Don Rosa (the old guy that is drawing in the video) have done two comic boks that are named The Life Time Of Scrooge McDuck 1 and 2. And Tuomas did this hole album inspired of them. In the Album. Alan Reid is the voice of Scrooge. And the Singers are Johanna Kurkela ( Tuomas Wife), Johanna Iivanainen and in one song Tony Kakko ( friend of Tuomas and the singer of Sonata Arctica). Also in the Album are Troy Donockley and plays some of the instruments. My favorit song of the album are Cold heart of the Klondike

Tuomas is a big fan of the Disney Ducks and Don Rosa is his favorite artist. He wanted to make one album for the history of Scrooge. Don was surprised that Tuomas did this work and invited him in. Johanna - the lead singer and his wife is also a brilliant solo singer but in here lead voice. AURI band is also great and totally different music than Nightwish. Tuomas also makes Black metal music with the band "Darkwoods My Betrothead"... again totally different. Names have Capital letter in the begining not ii but Ii -> Iivanainen. L = London, I = Iowa.

James Shearman also is also orchestrator comin Nightwish new coming album due Pip:s bad health. Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck is completely different from DuckTales, they share nothing in common other than some of the characters, but not even all of those. Life and Times is much, much darker and grittier than DuckTales as it depicts the deaths of Scrrooge's parents as well as Scrooge's worst deeds. This is a little bit like saying that Austin Powers and James Bond movies are one and the same.
