I'm not sure why every random news station needs to send someone to a place that has precious few resources. The reporters that venture out into the hard to reach areas to cover search and rescue operations or deliveries of essential supplies are at least helping to inform. Showing a glass storefront with no context? You're just in the way. It's not your fault. You shouldn't have been sent there. I grew up in Asheville. My family is still there and struggling to find gas, water and food. Talk to the people. Stop with the debris and sludge.

It's not just me as an observer, it's the local officials. They're begging people to stay off the roads. There's PLENTY of available footage for local stations in other markets to use to inform. (And that is very much appreciated) Biltmore Village (where most of the reporters went first) is part of my childhood. During rough days as a caregiver, going to the Asaka drive-thru was what got me out of the house. Hendersonville Rd/Biltmore Ave is the way to downtown or the hospital from South Asheville. It's not a backdrop. Allow room for the traumatized locals to move around and begin to accept what they've lost. I'm not saying anything that this news team doesn't already know.
