Curious, why don't you use a smeargle with spore and a move like super fang? Makes the catching a lot more straightforward

This is a playthrough so I can't get Smeargle yet. I can make one in a different game but then obedience is an issue. Hypnosis and Super Fang are more than sufficient without the problem of obedience.

As far as we know, yes. Gift Pokemon and eggs are a little harder to verify.

Yes. It's on Bulbapedia. It adds an additional roll to PID when generating a Pokemon thus making it 1/4096.

You could hypothetically hunt the roamers in emerald but you'd need to be sure one of your shiny frames is really early and it would essentially bring the odds down significantly as you'd be hunting a small subset of frames, basically rng abusing but less guaranteed

Yeah that isn't really shiny hunting though. If you know you have a shiny frame early, it isn't random anymore. The odds just become as good as you're able to time your A press.

@@Sonikks No im saying not rnging it. For example on my emerald i hunted a groudon and now i know all of my shiny frames. Whenever i hunt other static runaways encounter (like the regis) I know in the first 10 minutes I can encounter a shiny that will be modest with pretty good ivs. I dont reset every 10 minutes trying to get that specific shiny, but I know it is there. As someone who both full odds hunts and has rng abused shinies its distinctly different from rng abuse, its not a guarantee
