About to start my own shiny hunting adventure in HGSS! Quick question: Hunting Electrode with a smoke ball seems like the pro strat. However, I was watching another streamer attempt this and they mentioned that it was impossible to get the smoke ball until after you defeat the electrodes? Something to do with beating the electrodes so that you could advance the Team Rocket plot and then eventually get a smoke ball from a previously blocked off section of Goldenrod City? Is this accurate, or did you have another method of getting a smoke ball beforehand?

Just trade a mon over holding a smoke ball from a different game.
