[LIVE] Shiny Feebas after 2,208 fishing encounters in Ruby (DTQ #6)

Shiny Feebas in its original generation, the best kind of Feebas. I can't tell you how surreal it feels to have this shiny in my collection. Pretty crazy how well this DTQ progressed, to be honest, I can't believe it's over. It's a proud yet sad moment as always when you complete a quest. I ended it with a challenging hunt that I'm proud of.
Feebas is regarded as one of the most difficult hunts in the series, never mind in Ruby/Sapphire but I'm here to pour water on that fire. It's nowhere near as bad as what people suggest. I think a lot of misinformation leads to the theory it's as bad as what some people think so hopefully this video is a little down to earth reminder if you decide to hunt it yourself. I really hope others do as it's quite a nice relaxing hunt. This was specifically quite nice to stream too over on Twitch.
There's a common misconception that certain natured Feebas cannot evolve in 3rd and 4th Gen. This is completely false as you will see here; • [Live] Shiny Feebas af... This video shows an Impish natured Feebas, one of those claimed to be unable to evolve, actually evolve. It's all about the Berries.
Certain natured Feebas are more difficult to evolve if they dislike Dry Pokeblocks but simply using a Pamtre Berry for your PokeBlocks will make ANY Feebas evolve. Let's stamp out this decade old myth once and for all.

One of the most unique way finding a Pokemon, I remember when I was young it took me 3 months to find a normal one because I didn't know how the Feebas mechanic worked, but when I found it it felt like finding a shiny! Oh my God, I completely forgot to mention one key thing! The Battery! Okay so if your battery is dead, your tiles never change. Once you find the Feebas tile, the 1/16 chance never occurs. There is an option to remove the battery but it comes at a cost. Once you interrupt the Berry Program bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Berryglitch you can't get it restored on that save file. That means no Berry growth, no daily events, no lottery, swarms etc. I do not recommend this method if you care about the save file you're hunting on; ie a quest file. Sorry, I completely forgot to mention this in the video. I just assumed you wouldn't want to interrupt the battery on a quest file for important daily things like swarms, berries etc. The best way to hunt this Feebas would be in Emerald (Suction Cups) and have a dead battery to have a static tile :) Follow me on Twitter to stay updated between uploads; twitter.com/Sonikks1

This Pokémon actually brought me into shiny hunting. It was a year or two after the release of Emerald and I was trying to complete the dex as a kid. Without the opportunity to access the internet, I only knew that Feebas spawns on a few piles on this Route. I was fishing for a few hours and suddenly found a golden Magikarp. I didn't know that other Pokémon than the Red Gyarados had shiny forms. This brought me into shiny hunting about 14 years ago. Amazing video and thanks for all the helpful information!

tell me about it haha i had one myself (and still do, transferred her all the way through the various gens ^_^) and boy was it the envy of the neighbourhood XD it got to the point where folks actually offered me real money to get this one XD hard to believe it is now one of the easiest shinies to get since ORAS :p it really took some dedication and luck to get this baby back in the R/S days, but boy was it worth it! especially if you also have Colloseum and/or Gale of Darkness. shiny Milotic is such a gorgeous one.

This is also my first and only shiny hunt so far. I've come to 2100 RE's when my battery died and the shiny method changed to frame instead of random. Seeing this made me very happy and I guess I have to replace my battery and pick up where I left.

A potential point of interest for obtaining Pamtree Berries: If you have Fire Red or Leaf Green, you can obtain Pamtree Berries via the Pickup ability. The Pickup item pool for Fire Red and Leaf Green contains many berries, so if you have access to either of these games and have Celio's PC linking quest complete to trade between these games and the Hoenn games, you can trade over Pamtree berries.
