Shiny Gastrodon looked so darn good in these games. The shift to 3D really messed with its colors and made the color change less impactful. Beautiful thing about the 2D games was that even the more subtle shinies actually felt like shiny pokemon worth getting.

Great thing about the 2D games is that even the more subtle shinies still popped and felt unmistakably "shiny". Shiny Gastrodon's peach color is beautiful for sure, but I'm talking about even the more "boring" ones like Regice, which still felt like they were worth getting. Now you can hardly tell the difference between with Regice because they made the regular one too similar to it. In the earlier games it was hard to miss due to how much brighter it so clearly was. The only exception I can think of where it's the other way round is Garchomp, it was the only one back then that was actually hard to tell. It definitely looks a lot better these days, especially in gen 9.
