I think it's because Li uses a lot of techniques Jared has in his arsenal as well. It's not like the Tim Henson/polyphia style for example that's quite niche. Having to battle someone being as strong as Li, he of course wants to hold to it and is being pushed to his limits.

That's not even fair. John Myung plays one of the most complex and progressive bass lines along with dream theater and has a high degree in berkelee college of music. Then there is Davie504 who likes to play funky and poppy bass lines. Sorry, but hands down, John Myung would win flawless. That's no hate against Davie504, I still enjoy his videos once in a while.
