Welcome back to our discussions about Siemens HMIs. We are going to be picking up where we left off last time and discussing how to create faceplates and how to get the most out of them. In the process, we will be simulating our HMI and going over a few more features that we might have missed last week.
Here are the topics I plan on covering:
How to create a Faceplate
How to maximize your efficiency with Faceplates with PLC Data_Types
Setting up and using Global Libraries
POSSIBLE discussion about winder design.

Hi, Jason. Missed your stream this week but watched the recording thank you very much. I was just this week figuring out how faceplates work. Here's a question: I'm doing a medium-sized project in TIA Portal where I'm going to use a TP2200 Comfort panel and I'm also planning to use a computer where I'm going to use a WinCC Advance project. In order to synchronize these two HMI projects must use the same tags in the PLC? That is, both projects refer to the same tags in the PLC or should they be different?

So there will be two separate tag lists for the Comfort and the WinCC, but you can connect them to the same point in the PLC. Make sure that you set your DBs are set up and named so that it is easy to connect to any faceplates you make. The last hour or so of this stream addresses a lot of these issues. Good luck and feel free to reach out for help!

hi again, what do we mean by saying "power tag"?
@jasonwattsae
@jasonwattsae Жыл бұрын
Ah. That is the term Siemens uses for number of tags. In either WinCC Runtime, Professional, or 7.x you have to purchase extra licenses based on how many data points you are using. This is common practice in SCADA. Ignition (our preferred SCADA platform) doesn't do this, opting for unlimited tags, databases, and users. It makes their system a little pricey for a small system, but we have found that if you need more than what you can do with a Comfort Panel, you probably are going to want the full capabilites of Ignition...

Hey Jason, ive been working the last three months with wincc professional, specifically a computer with a runtime, durning this time i had some questions, the customer asked me if there’s a way to block the physical keyboard like certain key combinations such as windows+tab, ctrl+alt+supr etc. i found a script on a siemens forum and I could block those keys, but it is not possible to unlock those keys again, i assigned the c script to a button i red that that same script should unlock the key combination and i couldn’t get it to unlock it

Any feedback with it would be greatly appreciated man, i really love ur friday streams im working on tia 18

Thank you for your comment! My first thought is that there are some combinations that are defined by the operating system, while others are defined by the selected window. Either way, the script you found probably is using a function that has a parameter to re-enable the combination. If that is the case, you would need to modify that parameter with your script. I will say, I have very limited experience with WinCC Professional, (EDIT: I see where you said the script is in C). Would you post a link so that I could see the script?

would you please talk about scripting in TIA Portal in next vids?

It probably won't be in tomorrow's stream, but I will definitely go over it on the next HMI stream. I will be on vacation starting this Thursday, so it might be 2 weeks before I get to it. Do you have a specific goal you are wanting to accomplish?
