In the control word, bit11 (drive) is "setpoint inversion" put that bit high and it will run in reverse. You can also just send a - speed setpoint (-25% for example) and it will run in reverse.

Hey Jason, you are a great guy for sharing these things for free. Anyway, I have a problem with the live chatters. Believe me, chatting with people online downgrades badly the quality of the podcast. There might be valuable people there with great questions but most of them are quiet and those noisy are just texturbators. They just need to make some noise(most of them) breaking your narative. I would pay for watching your videos without commentators allowed. Talk to them only on discord or let them your email for Q and A or whatever but don't let them turn a high value automation live stream into a teenage talking being at his first beer in life. Cheers!

I appreciate your feedback! I agree that I do get distracted sometimes and there are some that I give more of my attention than I should. The two main things out I want to build on this channel are Technical Knowledge and Community. I have been blessed beyond measure by being shown things that "connected" with my nature at an early age. I had someone (my dad) that was more than just "professionally" interested in automation invest in me and it changed my life. During my career I formed a community of people in this field that are genuine friends. One thing that turns a lot of young people away is they have an image of our field that they will be locked up by themselves with everyone else having fun at their jobs. I want to have a place where the true nature of our field can live. I will try and be a little more selective so that the content can be better. I also plan on editing the livestream content like I have in the past that will take out a lot of the distraction.

Hi. Sorry, maybe it is because I am not from an english speaking country,but i really didn't understand what could be an application for the synchronous axis. When are they used in industrial environments?
@jasonwattsae17 күн бұрын
Great question! A synchronous axis is the equivalent of putting a sprocket on the shaft and having a chain connect the two axes. This is common in many industries, but the easiest example would be on a paper line. If two rolls have different diameters they will need to turn at different shaft speeds to make their surface speed the same (this means the same sheet speed). Synchronous axis makes it to where you can match the speeds exactly, or even make a new ratio on the fly. I have other livestreams that go through this more in detail. Check out my "How to design a winder" stream for example. (Also, even people from thr US don't understand what I am saying a lot so don't feel bad 😅)

I have just replaced 600 amps 6ra70 drive with 600 amp 6ra80 drive for constant torque 190 K.W , 3000rpm d.c motor. With 6ra70 drive it was working fine but after replacing with 6ra80 drive I am facing problem at very low speed. The motor is unable to achieve set point speed due to increased armature current. The field excitation current is measured at rated current. Now how to increase armature voltage so that armature current can be reduced & desired torque can be achieved?
@jasonwattsae20 күн бұрын
That is an interesting issue. If you take your RA70 parameters you can add 50000 to them to convert them to the RA80 (for the most part). It sounds like there is either an issue with the motor model (incomplete data) or that your feedback may not be set up correctly. Are you using an analog tachometer by chance?

What is that time written at the right corner of the function diagram. Like 2000 microseconds, 4000 microseconds, etc.please let me know
@jasonwattsaeАй бұрын
So I have had to take the time to go through and see exactly what you were referring to (and that is hard on my phone) thank you for your patience. The numbers in the top right corner of the function diagrams in STARTER is how fast that particular function is being executed. For this particular device we are using the standard CUD and it is a little slower than the ACUD. For example, the speed controller is running on 2ms (2000us) cycle time on this unit. I am not exactly sure how fast the ACUD is, but for comparison to the S120 CU320-2 has a base servo cycle time (speed controller, current controller) of 125us.... so 16 times faster than this unit and that is on DEFAULT settings. You can speed up the CU320-2 (by reducing the number of available axes) and get the base cycle time down to 32us... over 62 times faster than this CUD....

It sounds like you may be calling the block the wrong way. Don't toggle the EN on and off. Just set the rate to what it needs to be and leave everything on. Sometimes the internal blocks get messed up. You can look at the instance and see if there are errors on the TCON and TSEND TREC blocks that are built in. it is a bit of a pain to reset them. I did a livestream on this block more recently that goes into a little more detail.

Why CU320 have fault code 30040 after release emergency stop and reset ?
@jasonwattsaeАй бұрын
Thanks for your question! This is an interesting fault, one that I didn't not know from memory. I looked it up and it reads "Power Unit: Undervolt 24V" While this fault may be coming into the CU, this fault is active only for "x_INF" object types. Meaning the problem is from your infeed module. If I had to guess, there is a relay, or contact that is dropping out the EN signal (which is 24V). It might be that that connection was also jumpered to the 24V+ input, which should always be on. Either way, you are losing the 24V+ supply power to your infeed. Check the wiring, then check that the 24V supply is not dropping out because of some other issue.

Hi, how does the distance parameter get into the drive if I use this function but I have chosen telegram 105 ? I didn't find any position setpoint in telegram 105 words or PZDs.
@jasonwattsae2 ай бұрын
Great question! The drive is only a speed controller when using TOs. That means the PLC is doing the position control loop and sending a speed setpoint to the drive. For this reason you want your ramp times in your drive as close to 0 as possible because the PLC generates a signal with a ramp built in! Doing it this way, the code using TOs can be used on any drive, even one with no communication! You only need a speed setpoint and a speed feedback!

Flying homing essentially takes the current position and makes it the home position. It is used in cutting applications to reset the home position at the position of the cut edge so that your position is now the length of the sheet (assuming no slipping). As for bypassing the RFG, you will want to have some sort of controlled acceleration. Which if you are using GMC Gearing on the CU320-2, it is taken care of by you acceleration parameters in the CU320-2.
