How are you feeling these days? I’m coming off 2400 a day right now, tapering as fast and as safe as I can. How long did it take for you to get out of the hot water? Hope you’re still okay, you seem like a really sweet soul, I hate that this happened to you too. I’m getting rid of Gabapentin before I come off Suboxone totally in a few months. Because I’ve heard it prevents brain regeneration, I kinda hate that they put me on it for so long as such a high dose. I hate that these doctors genuinely don’t give a shit, especially at Suboxone clinics.

I should have been more clear - did you come off the Gabapentin, and how long did it take to get through the acute stage? Hope you’re alright.

Hello, friend - Thank you for your kind comments and questions. ☺ First off, big congratulations on your decision to safely taper. It's certainly not a fun process, so facing it takes courage and fortitude. Kudos, fellow warrior! 💪😌 I'm feeling well these days, thank you for asking. I've been sober for almost 3 years. (With a few slip-ups mixed in.) It did take awhile to get completely off the Gaba. I'd get down to a very low dose, but as soon as I stopped completely, I just couldn't sleep. So, I had to stay on a low dose for about 3 months - (the first 2 months, it was 300mgs before bed, the last month was 100mgs) - before I was able to stop them completely, and sleep through the night. Once I was off the Gaba completely, it took about 4 months before I started feeling like myself. But, the worst of it only lasted about 3 - 4 weeks. (For me, I experienced restless legs, increased anxiety, sweating and some minor, lingering depression... But it was manageable.) And I agree with you. Doctors should be MUCH more transparent about what they're putting people on, the risks of physical dependency, and how difficulate it's going to be to stop the medication. Had I been properly informed, and not had a doctor who was more concerned with lining his pockets than he was with his patients well-being, I probably would have made more careful decisions. But many doctors just don't seem to care much about what they put you on, and the consequences; and it's unfortunate and sad because they cause a problem, and then don't want to take accountability when it comes time to remedy the problem. It's a shame, because we're left to find the solutions on our own. And yes, your correct - the brain can't form new synapses while on Gabapentin, so unfortunately it makes "returning to homeostasis" an impossible task, while on it. I'm wishing you all the best on your recovery journey, and if you have anymore questions, or if you just need to talk/vent, I'm here. Stay strong, stay safe, and stay well friend. ✌
