Live Streaming from iPad with External Cameras! - CAMO STUDIO tutorial

Multi-Camera Live streaming and recording on an iPad is finally here! The new @Camo Studio App from @reincubate the folks who brought us @camoapp, unlocks the new feature in iOS 17 that allows us to connect external cameras to our iPads.

I used my @rodemic Streamer X to take in my primary camera (Sony ZV E-10) and also my audio from my PodMic USB.... I then used an @elgato CamLink 4K to take in my secondary top down camera (Sony ZV1).

hye friend, i’ve been trying to live stream from my youtube channel using ipad and my sony zv e10 via camo studio. it’s been convenient only that i’m experiencing about 20sec delay from the studio to the live stream. my internet connection is fine, no delay if i stream directly without camo studio. do you have any opinion about this? maybe there’s some settings or external device that i can use to overcome this? thanks

Any upcoming support for iPhone as a camera? Especially wirelessly?! I've been using OBS on my Macbook w/ Continuity feature to use the iPhone camera. The amazing thing about this is that I don't need to worry about wires - especially in the hard to control environments I'm recording in. Running wires is not an option to get a good angle, but wireless camera using continuity makes it all possible. That said, I would love to use an iPad instead of a Macbook as it's way more portable and doesn't require desk space. I'm dreaming of the day I can record using just an iPad and this is the last feature I need 😬

I use an app called Mevo Go - it sends whatever is on the screen to my Mevo Multicam Live Streaming program. I can then send that feed to the livestream. Does this app enable a "full screen" feature? In other words, if I attach an external camera (Sony Handycam), can I send the feed without any of the items on the borders (time, battery charge, wifi signal meter, etc)?

It's great but lacking one major feature that is a deal breaker. You cannot change the bitrate for recording or for live streaming.

You can connect multiple cameras to your iPad and of course the iPad itself has front and rear camera too…. Camo allows 2 cameras in each scene so that is what camera 1 and 2 refer to…. In scene 1, cam 1 could be an external camera connected via capture card and cam 2 possibly a usb webcam…. Then in another scene cam 1 and 2 might be different cameras entirely. So that pop out panel on the left side of the screen is for settings for the scene you are currently in. Hope that helps! 😊

At the moment, Stream Deck can not be used to control an iPad. Although there is a Stream Deck iOS app, it is for us in control things setup in the Desktop App. I wonder how long before we will be able to control iPads with a Stream Deck, though?!

I use a Maonocaster E2 with my iPad Air M1. I run an XLR microphone, headphones for monitoring, have the option for additional inputs, and it works as expected with Cam Studio. It’s the same setup as my custom PC. I run an Elgato HD 60S+ to capture the feed from my Canon M6 Mark II and Cam Studio picked it right up.

There is no 'virtual camera' function out of Camo Studio, so no, you can not feed the output of Camo into Zoom.

Stream to Instagram or tiktok ?

Currently the majority of IG users can only stream directly from the IG Mobile app. Although IG is slowly rolling out the ability to stream using an RTMP key, this rollout seems to be slow going. So if you don't have that functionality on your IG account, then you would need to use their mobile app and although Camo Studio is on a Mobile device, you can not currently pass the output from Camo into another app on your iPad... So for now, this does not allow streaming for most users. I'm pretty sure TikTok is 100% mobile app only, so no this would not stream to that. I'm currently testing out the Instream from YoloLiv - I made an initial video about it here: kzbin.infoXOxR1EE4ET8. This is a dedicated device for streaming to Instagram, TikTok and the vertical platforms. This allows for multiple external cameras, but is effectively an android device, so you do stream through the native apps of IG, TikTok etc... hence not violating their terms of service. It is a great solution.

I'm glad to see this comment is new as I just returned my instream to yolo. They couldn't get it to stream onto TT. The video wasn't oriented correctly and ratios were way off so the image was distorted. When I tried updating IG to the latest version, it no longer worked as well. Seemed as if yolo might need to constantly update the device to keep up with the apps making it's usefulness spotty. I would be happy to pay even the salty price for their ultra is it would just stream to TT. If you find a solution, I would love to know about it. I've got TT desktop version but they throttle the reach of the DT version a ton compared to streaming from your phone making it a waste of stream. I manage a fairly large channel so it's easy to see hence why I want to emulate a phone while still having multiple camera angles and studio interface sound. @@TakeOneTech
