Thanks for STORY TIME and the trip down memory lane. I get emotional right with you during the touching stories. You Sir make me miss sitting and listening to all the stories of all the elders that I have had the pleasure of knowing in my lifetime. I hate to say but there is a lot of truly lost art to doing things like the whatchamadigger that the younger generation doesn't have a clue about, and doesn't care to take the time to learn. Please don't stop passing on the knowledge, there are lots of us who enjoy being reminded that the lessons learned by today's standards are off the wall. I feel the world would be a much better place if we would all make the effort to slow down and smell the roses' God Bless you for all you do for this community.

I'm 60. Gonna be 61 in a couple of days. I haven't seen or thought about an on the car electric spin balancer in 45 years. My old boss had one. He always said it was the best way to balance a tire accurately. Because it took into account everything, tire, wheel brake drum or rotor.
@gerryrandolph3 ай бұрын
Damn it, quit cutting onions. People are thinking I’m crying over here. Hate we’re losing that generation. Reminds me of some of the stories my grandfather told me of their model T’s and what they did keeping them running. This current generation seems to have no clue of the fine art of using your senses to listen to what a car is telling you or figuring out why something isn’t working. It’s just take it in and get the code scanned and see what sensor is bad. I learned more about the health of my Cars and trucks by shutting the radio off and listening to the motor. Keep the story time coming and pass on to as many as you can the things you were taught from those who past it to you

I worked for Chrysler and had an O2 sensor that sucked in fresh air on decel. Went through 7 technicians before I found the crossthreaded O2. Fixed threads and it never came back! Got a Chrysler Gold tool award for that....

Wanted to share this with you. I saw one of your videos some time ago talking about time and customers. You were talking about how someone called looking for advice on a part but didn’t buy it from you. The internet age has made sure we can get the best price. My wife is a triathlete. She was looking to buy a bike trainer. Those things that are smart and you don’t have to bring the bike on the road. We live in the Midwest- bike time is blended between April and November (at best). I told her to buy the equipment from a local bike shop. Establish a relationship, be a customer. Yes she could save $100 bucks or so buying in the internet. But the $100 bucks she saved didn’t get a man who lives bikes - day in and out- his time. Glad she listened to me. And she got that advice because I saw your video.

I remember, I think it was Sunnen, that had a spin up type wheel balancer, there a half a dozen shops in my home town that used them when I was very young. It used a pie pan shaped cover that snapped onto the wheel, there were 4 colored rings on the pie pan that you touched to change the sound pitch of the wheel as it spun....... Yea I remember your magic wheel balancer... I actually saw them used a few times. Don't ask me how I remember that, wow, the things we remember.

2points: those that choose the systems that “auto tune” rarely choose to look. Usually install and ride. Many TMax owners don’t know to “accept” the adjusted mapping 1-2 times a year to create a better tune. Now #2 building a motor and knowing the components still needs a base map that fits. Rarely does manufacturers build base maps that fit every combination. To build base map from scratch and tune can take over 2 hours. Even with the best tuning equipment. And how much experience the tuning professional has acquired.

We had a whatudigger in shop class in high school. Ours had a hub cap with two weight dials to see how much weight to put on rim. It was old. The hub cap went on the rim. You added the two dials for the total weight needed. This was in the late 1990's. Big heavy machine on two wheels. I am 46 years old now. Thanks for that memory. Mr. Elliott was my Auto Tech teacher. Old school ways.

Love a whatchadigger. But what did you hear sir if it can be described? Uneven roll of the bearing perhaps? Like a gyroscopic thrust force… or just your minds space in time? Tha is for sharing and Ty for your channel - I’m new to HDs with my 07’ RK standard with 45k on it. I’d like you to know I’ve decided to make you my mentor for when I decide to do my build albeit just remotely via your videos, that will just have to do and already I appreciate you more than you can know and have the highest respect for your craft. I hope I can even get close, or at least somehow resemble one of hours masterpiece builds with my own. I figure if I can do 25% of your ability then that should easily be better than most…. And that’s a big if. Thanks again man. And storytime rules. Js. Haha😂

I have a problem with my 2017 ultra limited with a rear O2 sensor code 154. The bike has a stage 3 kit, tuner and smart pro tuner. I've had it back to the dealer 8 to 10 times for this problem. They have replaced the rear O2 sensor 3 times. I'm assuming it doesn't need a rear sensor. I clear the code and its fine for a couple of hundred miles. Once I reach my destination, shut the bike down and then shortly after I go to leave it sets the code. The bike has never been tuned.
