I don't know that much about British history with painting, but the woman who brought in the airplane painting and lived through ww2 , and knew the guy that painted it, who was the guy flying the plane, is absolutely gorgeous! I would predict that that pilot was more enamored with her then his airplane. She's probably in her 80s but you can tell that when she was her 20s she was the one that would walk through the room and turn everybody's heads.

@rosannebelgardewakonabo3579 Жыл бұрын
3000 pounds would equal around 3766.52 US dollars, according to Google. Idk the exact exchange rate or how they figure it. It seems the higher the pounds, the more the exchange rate is. If that makes sense? 🤷🏾♀️
@Bandomeme Жыл бұрын
The exchange rate varies from day to day, month to month, year to year. Google it. In 2000, which is the date of this particular episode of the (original) Antiques Roadshow, one pound was worth about 1.4 US dollars. £3000 was worth US$4200. You also have to take into account that one pound in the year 2000 was worth £1.78 in 2023, so £3000 would be worth £5340 today. That’s US$6800 at 2023 exchange rates!
@kevinchallinor9116 Жыл бұрын
It was 1.6 dollars to the pound at the time (1999)
@matthewwoods366 Жыл бұрын
Yea it is about 30% more in dollars so 1000 British pounds would be around $1300. Essentially it is less in British pounds than it would be in US dollars and has been for a very long time so just assume an American based evaluation would be more. If is was some countries it would be different and their 1000 might only be $20-30 American, but not England.
