Man I didn’t realize how spoiled I was with the 4 warn storm team until I moved to Tulsa. I woke up to loud winds a few nights ago. I went on the balcony of our apartment to bring our plants in and decided I should turn the news on to find out what was going on. After about 20 minutes of watching the weather man I realized there was a tornado about a mile away. No sirens, no storm trackers with eyes-on, no storm tracker on the Doppler. Just a weather man telling me there’s a tornado in Tulsa. There weren’t even streets on their map. I could have pulled up Doppler on a website and got the same information. Thank you so much to Mike and his team. They have saved countless lives.

This is what happens to us down here in Wynnewood/Pauls Valley and all of us in south central Oklahoma. They tell us we are out of their viewing area 🙄 Then take the name Oklahoma out of your title. Tulsa has major news stations and OKC has 3. Down here in the southern part we have a station that is small with not as good systems and it’s not even on cable. Antenna type stations. Pretty crappy when we have tornadoes on the ground. But you know who is here first to cover the damage? Those 3 major stations. KOCO 5, News 9, KFOR 4. 🙄 Pisses us off truthfully.

I would think you wouldn't NEED to be told. Just hearing it would be self-explanatory.

If you need to be told to get under ground or hide from a tornado...you might as well not live in tornado alley. Do you wait for someone to tell you to get dressed in the morning or do you just do it?

at 13:00 around about there - just as things are starting to rip - the dam studio is holding off on switching over to the chaser streams. He keeps calling for them to pull them up and the chaser is getting all excitable - but the studio techs are like ignoring the meteorologist's request and this is frustrating the hell out of me. Anyway...just wanted to bitch about that. It would have REALLY sucked if I was trying to watch live. I would be calling the station and bitching, lol.

Absolutely incredible footage! I have the utmost respect for these storm chasers. I'd like to think I'd keep my cool and not freak out when being in the presence of a terrifying beauty, but I'd keep a couple pairs of underwear in the glovebox just in case. Just sayin' :)

You would think these "professional" storm spotters had never seen a tornado before. Is there a valid reason to scream on the phone???
@allandavis82015 жыл бұрын
Joshua Kaczmarek, yes, it’s called being terrified, and probably realising that storm chasing/spotting is not exactly the safest profession to be in.

That newscaster fella is all wet, we in s.e. Oklahoma get heaps of tornado's. I knew of the fella killed in Johnston Co., and I was told he was in his pickup pretty close to his house, and just didn't leave the area, he didn't have a cellar. Anyway, seems like Durant, on to Blue, Bokchito, up to Antlers gets hit the hardest, several deaths over the last 5 years that I know of, one of the women killed over by Blue worked at the bank in Calara. We get a fair share of tornado's no doubt.

I forgot to add, they are right on one thing, we do not have the storm spotters coming here, too many hills and thick timber. Only spotters are usually amateur storm spotters, and find them on 2 meter radio or scanner only, no working for tv stations. And this new digital tv is crap, every time it rains, wind gets up, forget watching tv for weather, ain't happening. Before on analog, the picture might a bit fuzzy, but could still watch for bad weather. And internet, forget that too, it goes off every time it rains or wind gets up, so I have to depend on 2 meter radio and the scanner.

@dalesmyth73982 жыл бұрын
@@maddymahool3828 Yep, it's spooky for sure. We are lucky that the NWS and other weather people have gotten really good at predicting storms nearly a week out. So, taking heed, and being ready for it is the ticket. I never sleep knowing a storm is coming, and so far, what I do works. I have others to get in a cellar in time, so I really prepare for these events.
