These are live-tv-recordings of the hit of the second plane and the collapsing of the two towers of the World trade center on 11 September 2001. As It Happened - The Initial Bulletins
----
The September 11 attacks (often referred to as September 11th or 9/11) were a series of coordinated suicide attacks by al-Qaeda upon the United States on September 11, 2001. On that morning, 19 al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing everyone on board and many others working in the buildings. Both buildings collapsed within two hours, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others. The hijackers crashed a third airliner into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C. The fourth plane crashed into a field near Shanksville in rural Pennsylvania after some of its passengers and flight crew attempted to retake control of the plane, which the hijackers had redirected toward Washington, D.C. There were no survivors from any of the flights.
2,973 victims and the 19 hijackers died as a result of the attacks. The overwhelming majority of casualties were civilians, including nationals of over 70 countries. In addition, the death of at least one person from lung disease was ruled by a medical examiner to be a result of exposure to dust from the World Trade Center's collapse.
The United States responded to the attacks by launching the War on Terrorism. It invaded Afghanistan to depose the Taliban, who had harbored al-Qaeda terrorists. The United States also enacted the USA PATRIOT Act. Many other countries also strengthened their anti-terrorism legislation and expanded law enforcement powers. Some American stock exchanges stayed closed for the rest of the week following the attack and posted enormous losses upon reopening, especially in the airline and insurance industries. The destruction of billions of dollars worth of office space caused serious damage to the economy of Lower Manhattan.
The damage to the Pentagon was cleared and repaired within a year, and the Pentagon Memorial was built on the site. The rebuilding process has started on the World Trade Center site. In 2006 a new office tower was completed on the site of 7 World Trade Center. 1 World Trade Center is currently under construction at the site and, at 1,776 ft (541 m) upon completion in 2013, it will become one of the tallest buildings in North America. Three more towers were originally expected to be built between 2007 and 2012 on the site. Ground was broken for the Flight 93 National Memorial on November 8, 2009, and the first phase of construction is expected to be ready for the 10th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2011.

There is only one country to blame...that is America... consequence of meddling in other country's affairs....attack on Pentagon was super based...this attack was meant as a lesson to stop interfering in other country's affairs but still America didn't learn the lesson...this attack was a revenge from all the countries who have been victim to American imperialism

I couldn't. 2nd period gym class: "Oh, a small plane like those 1 propeller planes hit the twin towers. Maybe a medium plane. " 3rd-4th period classes: "both buildings hit and they think it is big planes. 5th period Math class: Ms. Oftadel, "both buildings are gone". Me, "what? how can it be gone?" teacher: "gone. not there anymore" Quickly left class to go home right after this, cutting school. Get on the bus and the bus driver is just like, "get in, no metrocard needed". It was difficult to process how something could just "be gone"....from debating if it was a small propeller plane to both hit to simply being "gone". It was crazy and surreal.

@@jimron8844 very similar to me. news broke from a fellow student that a plane hit a building in the city. He said the empire state building tho. My teacher wouldnt say a word about it so i didnt really think anything of it at the time next period, teacher is hysterical saying were at war, D.C. is on fire and stormed out of the class. Still not really registering i left the class thinking if she doesnt have to be there neither do i. Walking out of the school i see my father walking towards the school, i think to myself, i just got caught cutting and apologize. He says get your brother were going home NOW. That is when it kinda hit me. im 20 minutes from the city and remember seeing the smoke at the skating rink in long beach many days later. it went from a scene like king kong where a small propeller plane accidentally hits the empire state build (exactly what i was thinking when my friend told the class), to a scene/day that will never be forgotten.

Do you actually know what REALLY happened that day SunBunz? I'm from a different country so I don't know for sure but in America has there been any hard evidence to prove that the US government was involved e.c.t? or was it an "inside job"? Or are these things just a load of BS?
@SunBunz
@SunBunz 8 жыл бұрын
BounceTo TheBeat I think the conspiracy that it's an inside job is bullshit. People in America can be pretty stupid. Some of them think Elvis and Michael Jackson faked their deaths, deny the holocaust and the lunar landing was faked and filmed by Stanley Kubrick. The hard evidence was the plane tickets, (the belongings of the terrorists including the box cutters they used to overtake the planes) the backgrounds of the terrorists, and the plot they dug up from Osama Bin Laden various propagandizing videos.

I still remember that day like it's yesterday. I was just a few blocks over. I was about to pick up my best friend. We were planning on having a quick trip to visit our sick (other) best friend in Buffalo. I was just about to start the car when we heard something so loud, like an explosion. I remember my friend joked about it, saying "what the hell did you do to the poor car?" we had a good laugh until we realized it wasn't the car. People were frantically shouting running around, calling friends and loved ones. We got out of the car and we saw layers upon layers of smoke coming out of the northern tower. I remember the look of horror in my friend's face, she completely fell down to her knees. I too was overwhelmed by despair. We ended up staying until the southern tower collapsed. After that we got the fuck outta there to my place uptown. It was something i will always remember. It was horrifying. To see it all, i kinda wish i wasn't there.

I was 11 when this happend and couldn't understand what was happening. My teacher had turned on the news if I remember, all of us 10 and 11 year olds just stared in silence as the towers burned. I wasn't told by my teachers what transpired but the tv was abruptly turned off with my mom arriving early to pick me up. She did her best to keep the concept of death from me up the best she could but in the end told me there was some type of accident. (I was a very sheltered child) but years later my family was... shocked to say the least. I never got a chance to write this because this started my development of fear of flying and seeing this.... I rather not say. But my heart goes out to all families who were affected by this tragedy. I know I am late and am sorry it took me so long to write this. Btw my fear of flying hasn't left me since then. I don't think I can ever board a plane without panicking.

It always trips me out when people talk about being in school when the towers were hit AND hearing it seeing it live. I was in 12th grade (17 at the time), and we hardly heard a whisper about it. They locked our school down on ANY outside information getting in. We had rumors in the hall that NY was under attack, but the teachers were threatened to be sent home and any students heard talking about it was sent to the office. They later said, that since we lived so close to a large military base they were fearful of a mass panic and banned any talk about it. I didn't find out till I got off the school bus after a long normal day at school that the towers were rammed with planes. My mother was still stuck on base due to them locking post down... That was a very interesting evening. We still were not allowed to discuss much of it the next day either. . It was like the elephant in the room...

@@slinger7529 it's not about being smart. It's about convincing hundreds of skilled civilians who aren't killers to be complicit in the murder of 3000 people. The tallest building to be brought down by way of implosion at that point was 439 feet. So these smart CIA folks would surely have needed to recruit the very best demolition team to perform the task. The twin towers were both more that three times higher than anything that had been brought down by this demolition method before. I am sure that the CIA are smart, but I see no logical explanation for the recruitment of an experienced demolition to bring down a building with thousands of people in it. 300 security officers died that day and they would have presumably allowed the demolition crew to enter both buildings for months before. Conspiracies don't tend to stay hidden for long and the ones that stay hidden for longest involved the fewest co-conspirators. A conspiracy on this scale could never last 20 years. I can't see a way of it even getting off the ground. Hundreds would have needed to be involved in what the conspiracy theorists are proposing. So did anybody turn them down? Not one person has come forward and said that they were approached to perform such a task. The CIA are smart, I'm sure. The conspiracy theorists, not so much.

Dang...I was in kindergarten when this happened. All I remember is that we had a TV in the corner of our classroom and we were watching the news as it was happening. I can still see one of the towers collapsing into itself and my teacher sobbing.
@JamesTwelves
@JamesTwelves 10 жыл бұрын
....this was really scary for me...I worked 3-11 the night before...so I always sleep in until about 11 a.m. but my roommate woke me up saying you won't believe what hapenend...she put the tv on and then the first tower collapsed....I am only 50 miles and about 45 minutes from NYC and go there frequently....we shared a condo on a golf course next to an air base, we could hear all the jets scrambling and taking off....then we saw the second tower hit, then it also fell...we were going to NYC that weekend, we knew we couldn't then....we had to drive past the entrance to the base to get to the gym, they had such high security, dogs, and devices for looking under cars for bombs....the worst part was how quiet the skies were with all air traffic shut down...you don't notice it until it happens...it was so quiet....very ominous....
@adriennemarie3051
@adriennemarie3051 10 жыл бұрын
Yeah...I was only 5 when it happened so my memory is pretty vague. I was at a k-12 school at the time, so the other kids and I didn't really get what was going on. We only understood that planes were crashing into buildings. We didn't understand the severity of it.
@JamesTwelves
@JamesTwelves 10 жыл бұрын
Adrienne Marie ...I don't want to be overly dramatic, but being so close to NYC a group of nurses I worked with wanted to go there to help....and being next to an air base we could hear the jets landing and taking off at all times, day and night, especially after the Pentagon was hit and the plane that went down in central PA...we have a memorial in our county, Bucks, dedicated to those we lost...it was about 20 in our county that were in the towers that day...so many work in NYC and go to Princeton or Trenton to catch a train to get to Penn Station and get to work...just watching them get struck then fall, all those lives...and the debris, so much asbestos the living breathed in, that dust was everywhere....I have yet to go to the Liberty Tower site, I think I would cry reading the names....I think I'll go with my sister or mum this spring...something I have to do to finally close the page in that book....I still have a dream about it and wake up from it...so sad, thousands, and thousands of people gone...

This was devastation throughout the world. I live in Australia, I woke up same time as usual .. expecting to see cartoons on TV but this news covered every channel. I was 6 years old. I thought I would be going to school that day. School was cancelled as a sign of respect to reflect for all Americans and for those who suffered a great loss. I wasn't there personally and I was too young to understand what was going on. I would just like to say this news touched everyones hearts that day, no matter where they were in the world and you were in everyone's prayers, you still are. Xx
