THank you Rocky for updating us on Bean and his surgery on his leg. I own Border Collies and I know how active they are and they need a lot of work. So, I am thrilled his foster Mum is a vet. Wow, what a blessing for Bean.

One of my childhood dogs was a Border Collie mix. My mother had no business owning him. She was an elementary school teacher and was gone 12 hrs or more a day. She was divorced with a teen (me) and a 8 year old. I did my best to exercise him after school but I had activities and when I was 16 I started waitressing. After I graduated and left, my little sister had been tasked with walking him. He would have been much happier with someone who knew what they were doing. It was long ago in the '80s. His name was Benson.

One of my daughters and I once found a tiny Blue Heeler pup in the middle of a road. We took him home and tried to find his owners. No response from an owner, but many from local farmers who wanted him. A really wonderful couple took him, and I always hoped he had a wonderful life herding, which is what he was born to do.

Yes they do! We adopted ❤ one (named her Bella) and she was such a Clown! She had a mixed puppy in the pen with her so we decided to adopt her also and named her Shadow. Bella corraled her and taught her everything she needed to know. Shadow lived 14 years and Bella lived to 16! Adopted dogs are so greatful and loving, we still miss them both, a lot!

Love what the vet said about not permitting puppy behavior that you don't want the adult dog to have. Same applies to children.

We (couple with no children) had an Australian shepherd who dug craters in our backyard. We asked our vet what could we do to get her to stop. He recommended that we get her a herd of sheep. Not able to do that, we rehomed her to a family with 5 children. She was blissfully happy with her new family. She never dug a crater in their yard.

I have a miniature Australian shepherd and mini pincher mix. Yes they dig holes. Looking for rocks, etc. They need lots of toys and places to run , yes they love to play! They demand attention, and they are awesome companions. Giving them a job helps, they do nip while teething, and love to hold your hand with mouth. Mine is 6 mths, and she is a female. I need to get her fixed, but not sure when, etc. She has high anxiety, but is skiddish. I think it is inherited by the mom. She is attached to me, and is starting to play with my adult son. She will not let him hold her? I am a senior , and shredded her beds. She gets car sick, so I will wait till she is older .

THANK YOU for saving his leg.....Vets are always quick to amputate instead of fixing them to wholeness again. Cattle dogs basically run all the time except when sleeping. I had one.....super intelligent breed!

I’ve done this too, Rocky. Always a lot of money. The Vets have increased their fees the last couple of years. I just spent $800 for a kitty having seizures. Only med was a food with prebiotics and probiotics. The money must have been spent on tests. No diagnosis to me. Food was $80 a bag and diet pills same as for people. Just a rip off except the kitty no longer has desires. ❤

Kudos to the vets and staff who stayed, performed the surgery, and helped with his care and recovery. When you have a break or breaks in the bones like that the longer you put off the surgery the harder it is to properly set because the ligaments and tendons shrink and they are harder to set properly. Thank you Rocky for taking responsibility for him.
