My wife and I live a semi-provincial, simple life, but with easy access to the city. Our son is settled at a Montessori school about 45 minutes away and my step-daughter is settled at university in Manila, around 2-3 hours away. We have land, property, a business, investments, savings and an income so we are sorted. Most important, there is no drama, just a quiet, relaxing life. We both retired early so we could enjoy that retirement. It is good to see another Brit enjoying the same. Vis-a-vis stuff for the kids, our son had a national 'dress-up' day at his school. We organised a costume for him that made him stand out - my parents are Scottish - so he went the whole hog with kilt, tam-o'-shanter, sporran, etc., - while my step-daughter had an international 'cook-out' with her classmates. She went equipped with a genuine Tiramisu and a Salade Nicoise which, apparently, went down a storm being somewhat different to what else was on offer.

5:11. The royal rumble remark is funny huh. Back in my high school days, pageantry is always part of schòol activities but it is part of the yearly school intramurals. We do team and individual sports, academic competitions, quiz bee, math quiz, short story writing cheerleading, indigenous competitions, poetry drama, theatre arts, music like singing dance competition and painting and pageantry. You can ask your wife about it. She went through pholippine high school intramurals. T'was a busy week for us student leaders that time. I was a campus news editor and a news writer too, officer if the student government. Tiring and stressful but it is enjoyable and eye opening to my young years. Hope your daughter enjoys her school extra curricular activities.

Planting Mango in your garden is not good because when it will grow big and tall it will be break your house flooring because of the root it will be grow bigger.

It won’t grow tall my friend. It’s marcotted and dwarf. We can constantly trim it too. The height it is now is pretty much as tall as it will get. It’s also nowhere near our house 😊

We used to get our water at the source in Agua Dulce Street. Men and even little boys would run to the car to be the first one to get our containers and go down to the source to fill them. We would pay them 5p/container. That's already a long time ago so the price may have gone up. Enjoy life in Omoc! I'll be rooting for Isabella!

Not ours my friend. Trees can be marcotted and kept small. The Japanese show this through bonsai trees. The same principles exist. Our Guyabano and cacao trees fruit after trimming but are only 8-10 feet tall 😊

Lived a similar lifestyle with grandparents for 3 years just outside the city limits, large garden, many fruit trees..healthiest 3 years..then to California and the city 😱😱😱

Actually, mango comes in variety, from small tree that grows in a pot to tree than spread wide and taller than house, though height can be controlled. Tree looks better by small hut if it grows tall. Karate katas can be choreographed with a sparring partner. Just do short movements and name each set and do each set in order of advancing skills.

But I do have a question, I Know you mentioned the Jane has health issues. What do you think of the health care in the Philippines (I"m not sure if you go to Ormoc, Cebu, or Manila to see a doctor) compared to what you were used to back in England? I ask before I'm going to be 41 and I know it's time to pay better attention to my own health instead of thinking I'm an indestructable teenager/20 something.
