I am from Barbados and now seeing this video. A few updates we do have a separate facility for COVID. We have two main internet services provider that offers pretty reliable internet services amoung others. The main hospital is reserved for the ordinary medical things. We also have private medical facilities if you want to go that way. Transportation is pretty good and I must add we are the only Caribbean island with the largest electric bus fleet. See you guys in Barbados :-)

I am in DESPERATE need of some reminisce of my old life of travel and vacations. This program is on my list, as well as Aruba's program (90 days). Thanks Megan!

A few corrections Barbados built a separate facility to handle Covid cases. Covid patients do not go to the main hospital.

There is another fancier private hospital (ie apart from the hospital you mentioned). Quite apart from that, there are other high tech medical facilities where operations can be done.

Glad you're back, hope everything is going as well as can be expected. Very nicely done with both the pros and cons. Another plus is Barbados is generally far enough south to miss most tropical storms/hurricanes I read that U.S. citizens can drive through Canada as long as they're going to Alaska. You can stay in hotels but you aren't supposed to sight-see. Right now being stuck at home almost anything looks good.

Hey Stan! All good on my end- I've just been trying to take the free time to enjoy the last of Canadian summer... the winter really is coming haha. I hear so much conflicting info on the CAN-US border rules. Such a mess, I guess that makes sense but I don't know many people heading to Alaska! I think I'd try for Barbados first haha
@mrog54814 жыл бұрын
Considering it for sure. One thing that is extremely important for me is timezone. I need to be available during the USA workday, so Thailand or Sri Lanka would be almost impossible (I'd have to train myself to be nocturnal) and Estonia would also be a no go. Barbados or anywhere else in the Caribbean would be vastly preferable.
@PortableProfessional4 жыл бұрын
I hear ya! I tried doing Asia while working for a US company a few years ago. Working nights was not my jam... This is a great timezone solution! Thanks for sharing!

Bermuda is great island to visit. Been there , its small and much more north than Barbados so in "winter" would be a cooler, more temperate climate. Living costs prob higher than Barbados, almost all food is imported. Still better than Canada in winter;) Interesting both places you mentioned have strong ties to Britain so for us Canadians would be less culturally different. I know some immigrants from both Islands who have ended up in Toronto and Canada so you will always find common ground there. I would love to visit/live in Barbados during our cool months, maybe you will end up there?

Hey, just wanted to add my 2 cents as someone from Barbados. 1. Over COVID care is actually being done at a totally different facility ( built specifically for a pandemic) so there not really a big worry about the QEH being over run because there no COVID patients there at all. 2. Our laws on homosexuality are basically completely ignored. You have a 100% change of actually being arrested or anything like that. I will say that other generations are pretty conservative but as an island it’s def not an issue. 3. The cost of living here is no joke. We important most of our food so whatever you pay in the US get ready to pay like3 times as much and lastly 4. Depending on we’re you live you may need to get a car, especially if your traveling with fam. The bus system here is only reliable in some areas

So ideally you already have an income and a highish one at that. Not written in stone but expected. On aver how much would a regular tourist spend for say a three week period and how would that compare? No Barbados is not cheap. Paradise. Umm. Ok.

Barbados is not, and has never been a dangerous place for gay people, they just don't want anyone flaunting that kind of lifestyle in public there, especially in front of children. Dangerous places for that lifestyle are Jamaica and Muslim countries where a gay person can lose his/her life for practicing homosexuality. Never in Barbados!
