Join us for the thrilling climax of the Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival with our LIVE stream straight from the heart of Hakata! Come along as we follow the teams from seven districts, gathering and preparing for the big event. At exactly 4:59 am, the first team sets off from Kushida Shrine, carrying one-ton floats on a challenging 30-minute run through the narrow streets of old Hakata Town. The streets will be lined with enthusiastic spectators chanting “Oisa, oisa” and splashing water on the runners to keep them cool. It's an exciting conclusion to this vibrant festival. So exciting! Took me two years to finally see this festival. Last year I flew back 2 days before event. This year I came back for this purpose but only arrived ystd, didn’t hv chance to see many floats as compared to last year 😥.
