The event was organised by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for the Ethiopian famine disaster. Broadcast across the world via one of the largest satellite link-ups of all time, the concerts were seen by around 40% of the global population.

He said it ALL STARTED with David Bowie, and all the artists that followed. I just don't get why people consider stuff like this "selling out". Modern Love in particular is amazingly soulful. Agree. No problem. David said I am gonna make a great album that, BESIDES, may contain some HITS. he achieved that. Though, to be true, it´s not as good as Scary Monsters, his absolute peak IMHO. people fall in love with ir initial discovery of an artist because they have nothing to compare the debut to anything else of theirs. when you hear a new band and get all🤩😍🥰😍🤩😍😍🤩🥰😍🤩 is an oxytocin feeling. I think it's why a lot of times an artist sophomore album is not recognized as great until way there in their career. Sometimes the sophomore album actually sucks though. I agree Bowie's creative artistry had merit all throughout his career in every phase. He is a type of artist where following all the different phases was a fun part of knowing him and going through the journey together. I LOVED "Let's Dance" and "China Girl" from this early 80'a era of Bowie.
