Just a little story. I first heard the name Preservation Hall Jazz Band back in the late 60's. When I was a young gun just out of the Navy in 1969 I used to go to this art store in my home town because I didn't have any money and the owner would credit me for tubes of paint and drawing paper and sell them to me at cost because he saw my talent. His name was Howard Jaffe. I didn't pay much attention to his interest in music at the time, but I have always loved Jazz and Blues. Howard asked me one time if I ever heard of the PHJB. I was watching a Netflix documentary the other night and I came across the one about this great group of musicians going to Cuba. It was the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. I came to find out that the band was founded by a guy by the name of Allan Jaffe. He was the son of Howard Jaffe the paint store owner in Pottsville, PA who got me started as an artist. His son is Ben Jaffe who now manages the PHJB. 6 degrees of separation man.

This was my favorite. It makes me want to watch cowboy bebop. I never really listen to jazz but i happened to pick this up on 88.9 in north east Texas.

I'm not the most knowledgeable on Jazz apart from the obvious Gods,Miles Davis,Gillesipie,ColtraneLouis Armstrong.. etc..But I so like this kind of sound..The music in the movie"Bullet"with Steve McQueen..Fantastic..So obviously i have to improve on my Education..
